Can't get down by too much, but there are still some innings left.

Garbage call by the 3rd base ump.

Now we have the unroided Hafner up....SMH.

    Choo = fired up

    Pronk went deep earlier

Just got home from work. On the radio Hammy said this game should be tied at 2. That sucks!

A three run throwing error by Jhonny is the difference
  • devil1197
First error of the season is going to cost the Indians.

Fucking Peralta! You cant put that fat slug anywhere. Easily one of my least favorite Cleveland athletes of all time. We couldnt find a way to trade this guy during the fire sale?

Anyways, tough break for Huff. Kid pitched a solid game.

Not going quietly....Kearns with a 1 out hit.
  • THE4RINGZ
Without a doubt Huff got jobbed by the defense which has been really solid up until that one play. Huff pitched a great game.
  • royal_k
3 unearned runs are the difference.

Starting pitching has been solid, except for Jake's first start in well over a year.

Even with the loss, I'm still impressed in the pitching. The defense failed today (Jhonny)....

Tribe hurlers have given up a puny 21 hits in 38 innings. It's way too early to make any kind of judgement here, but I'm wondering if the tribe has struck gold with the new pitching coach.

Jentzen Lewis used to get rocked because he would throw 90% fastballs. Now he has been lights out by mixing in 50% off speed pitches..in particular, the change up which he is locating down in the zone.

Fausto is more reminiscent of 07, than the last 2 seasons. And what's up with David Huff in his last 2 starts? He of 5.65 ERA fame last season.

I still would like to see Laffey in the rotation, once one of the starters peters out.

Moon Pie's play was sad all the way around. With that said, high school first basemen pick that scoop up 3 out of 4 times.

I'm not going to throw Peralta under the bus just yet. After all, his game tying double scoring Hafner in game #2 was a key to that victory. People underestimate the difficulty in playijnng 3rd base, and JP is trying to learn the position at the major league level. Right now, he's the team's best option there. Probably, if Peralta performs well at all, he'll be traded before season's end.

All in all I'm pretty pleased with what i'm seeing so far...minus the walks from the pitching staff. Acta's pitching philosophy will eventually shine thru. This team may surprise us.

Struck gold with the pitching coach? I don't think there was whole lot wrong with the players to begin with....just some stale teaching and development. Changes in some of the coaching staff should have been made years ago. Part of being a good manager and/or GM is addressing problems and correcting them. The same problems plagued the team year after year...and he team was stagnant since 2007. Wedge/Shapiro's answer was to move players around...what they needed to do was move the coaches around...bring in new people to teach players different things, or at least new approaches to teach players the same things in a diferent way.I'm not a big fan of having players play out of position...e.g. JP at 3rd base ...Garko playing LF... indecisions concerniong LaPorta and Laffey. By the time you reach the major's you should know what position the player plays. If you want to moving an aging player to first base that's one thing. But rarely are you going to have success, changing SS's to 3B....A-Rod sort of being an exception because of his athleticism. Each position is unique and trying to learn a new position is going to be distractfrom performance at the plate, and be less than championship caliber in the field.
