Opening Day...Indians at White Sox

Yeah it was a weak excuse.Footwedge wrote:
Royal...with all due respects, that's not what H &H were referencing. They spoke specifically on the grip of the ball. Like the other poster said, it's much easier to grip the ball when the humidity is high.royal_k wrote:
Actually humidity makes the movement on the ball greater, making it harder to throw trikes. That's was probably what they were getting at.RedRider1 wrote: Thought for sure I'd see shelbucks here today...for old times sake.
Hammy & Hegan are already breaking out the excuses for Jake....humidity in Chicago vs. Arizona is affecting grip, thus the wildness (which is backwards...shouldn't humidty increase grip?)....and saying this is his first "real" game in a long time (that's probably true).
Gonna be a long season.
Westbrook entered the tribe record books for wild pitches...he also plunked 2 hitters.
I can understand Hammy making excuses like this...but not Hegan, who is a former player and knows the intricacies of the game. -

Except this year the roster is abysmal and the April schedule is set up brutally. 15 road games vs. only 7 at home. If they manage 10 wins in April this year it would be a success in my book.BR1986FB wrote: Read a piece where the author said it seems like Acta has them (unlike Wedge) positioned to get off to a faster start. We'll see.... -
devil1197Cleveland Indians go goosie on the first day.
-
ts1227Quick, painless 9th inning (10 pitches) to end this thing. 6-0
To sum it all up:
-
THE4RINGZPretty much what I expected.

golf4life2008Wow... baseball and the Indians freaking BLOW! I used to like the Indians when I actually knew more then 2 players on the team. Now its like a joke... I can't even root for these slobs! 0 runs opening day? Another laugher of a season.
100 losses here we come! -
devil1197
Don't blame the young guys that should be playing Triple AAA. Seriously have some faith in them, their put into the MLB where they should still be maturing at Columbus like Marson and Brantley. Also this was Westbrook's 1st actually start in how long?golf4life2008 wrote: Wow... baseball and the Indians freaking BLOW! If you want to call someone a slob, call Dolan it because he is a tight wad with his $$$ (if he has any left).
And you just classified yourself as a bandwagon fan with the comment that you don't even know two players. So you only followed them when they had star players and were good? Nice, true fan eh? -

Did you look at he pitching matchup today and expect to win this game? And 1 game makes a laugher of a season?golf4life2008 wrote: Wow... baseball and the Indians freaking BLOW! No douche... I've watched the indians for as long as I can remember. I love the indians and i'm not a bandwagon fan its just its hard to keep cheering on a loser like the indians who have the cheapest owner in the MLB and who have literally 2 guys who would even play on other teams in the MLB.devil1197 wrote:

Getting 4 hits (2 broken bat bloopers) and scoring 0 runs is an embarrassment. What are we paying these players for to suck? If this keeps up I won't watch another game the whole year! -
royal_kDisagree with the 2 players statement. Agree with the cheap owner.
As far as the hitting went today, they faced a pitcher that was on and has a very good track record. Hell the WS only had 6 hits. It's not like they beat the ball around the park. It was more due to Jake's command than it was their hitting. -
Laley23
Yes, but they wouldve hit the ball around the ball park if he was throwing anything for them to hit. The velocity was atrocious. If he is throwing 88 MPH fastball still in a few weeks we are doomed.royal_k wrote: Disagree with the 2 players statement. Agree with the cheap owner.

SQ_CraziesThe Tribe is gonna suck all year, might as well get used to it. I'd say everyone except insane homers knew it was going to be ugly.
-
slingshot4everNext they will get Peavy. I love the rotation for my White Sox this year.

Our owner offered absolutely no money to bring in any good players this offseason. Blame him and not the players that shouldn't be playing yet or at all (Marson, Brantley (good but not completely ready imo, Grudz).
So just don't watch them this year, since you've been a longtime fan and could only name 2 or so players today LMAO. -
tigerfan82all of this after ONE game?????? Thank God most of you weren't around to enjoy the 70's and 80's........hahahaha
-
ts1227
Well, it's what everyone expected... it was more just a confirmation of it all today. It'll get quiet pretty fast regarding the team (unless NCF shows up to start shit)tigerfan82 wrote: all of this after ONE game?????? I Wear PantsI can name maybe 2 players on the team now but I can probably still name the 1994-97 batting orders. And I was only 5-8 years old then.
As far as the Indians go I don't give a shit unless they're actually trying which they haven't been for a while now. -
Laley23I mean, we have 4 starters that started when we were good in 2007 ALCS? I dont know if you are all exaggerating or not, but I sure hope so.
Not to mention some of the pitchers. -
Cleveland BuckI know exactly who these clowns are. I will watch them, and root for them, and not be at all surprised when they lose 105 games.
-
wes_mantooth
80's Indians were the GOAT. Loved watching Mel Hall, Cory, Joe and that bunch. Rich Yett was the best pitcher ever...loltigerfan82 wrote: all of this after ONE game?????? Thank God most of you weren't around to enjoy the 70's and 80's........hahahaha -
HitsRusOpening day and I didn't even watch!...more concerned with daughterHits softball game. Got tix to the home opener though.!
-
RedRider1WKNR was talking about the potential of the Cavs finishing with more wins than the Tribe...
Think they said if the cavs dont win another game but win the title, they'd end up with 81 wins.
I dont see the Tribe breaking 74 wins this year.....so even if the Cavs don't win it all, I still think they win more than the Tribe. -
Big Red MonsterBuehrle looked pretty good yesterday, but I cant get too excited about anything because of who they played.
-
Laley23
Yeah, Mark looked good, but we blow lol.Big Red Monster wrote: Buehrle looked pretty good yesterday, but I cant get too excited about anything because of who they played.
I think it should be an exciting race between Sox, Twinkies and Tigers. -
royal_kGotta love how everyone's throwing in the towel after 1 game.
