Friday Night Fights 4/2

  • Hulk Smash
An excellent main event in the absolutely stacked welterweight division for FNF tonight.

    Delvin Rodriguez(24-4-2) vs Mike Arnaoutis(22-4-2)
Rodriquez doesn't fight any slouches, his handlers line up one tough opponent after another and this one is no exception.
These two in the ring together should produce a pretty good fight and I think Rodriquez wins 116-112.
Undercard doesn't look like much to me:

Showcase fights for Demtrius Andrade, Yan Barthelemy and Yathomas Riley(Teddy will be bitching).

Shobox is on tonight too with a Golden Boy Productions show( their first on Showtime).
They haven't matched their prospect soft this time.
    Erislandy Lara(10-0) vs Danny Perez(34-6)
Carlos Ivan Valesquez(11-0) vs Ira Terry(24-2)
GBP even gave heavyweight Deontay Wilder(8-0,8ko's) a warm body to fight.
    His opponent is Ty Cobb(7-1)
It's time for Wilder to start getting opponents who are not punching bags with a pulse.

There is also the senior tour Golden Boy/Square Ring pay per view event tomorrow night.

Bernard Hopkins(50-5-1) vs Roy Jones jr(54-6)
If this fight would have happened 8 or 9 years ago I would have taken a day off work and had people over for it, now I have no intention of getting the ppv and since I have to work Sunday I doubt I'll stay up late enough to find out the result.
It will be interesting to see what kind of attendance and ppv buyrate this fight gets though.
This fight is not an HBO production there will be no free replay on the network next week.

Well, for being, by most accounts, a racist prick back when he played pro baseball about a century ago, it looks like Ty Cobb will finally receive his comeuppance.

Wilder needed less than a minute to deal Cobb his comeuppance, first time GBP gives him an opponent that fights back he will get beat. All of the GBP prospects won last night.

Rodriguez handled Arnaoutis rather easily which was a surprise to me. Delvin kept his jab pumping all night and Arnaoutis didn't know what to do about it. Rodriguez dominated a very solid opponent last night, I would like to see him land a fight with one of the bigger names in the near weight divisions.
