Gin drinkers unite!
-
QuakerOatsAny gin drinkers here........ (I know we are a dying breed). If so, what are you favorites, from your regular, go-to gin and tonic, to your splurge gin for a martini.
I run from New Amsterdam on the low end to Beefeater and Tanqueray for gin and tonics; then I prefer to move up to my favorite stuff for 'up martinis, dry, with olives', like Hendricks, Boodles, and Aviation. Have a bottle of Nolet's also, very distinct and highly rated although not my fav.
What say you all? -

Fab4RunnerGin tastes like hairspray and pine trees. I'll still drink it, tho.
-

justincredibleIt took me a while to warm up to it, but I like gin. I don't drink it often, but keep a bottle of Beefeater around for making the occasional gin and tonic.
-
CenterBHSFanI like a good gin and tonic with extra lime, also gimlets and tom collins' are a tasty treat.
-
GOONx19I️ like a gin and tonic. I️ don’t drink them often enough to have a preference on the brand. Beefeater and Bombay are the two I’ve had most frequently.
-
BRFI drink gin straight.
My favorite is Tanqueray, but I also like the cheaper Seagrams.
Also, I like IPA's because of the "piney" taste of gin. -
ptown_trojans_1Hey, here is something I agree with QO on.
I like gin. It took me some years to warm up to it, but I love a straight up gin martini.
Mainstream wise, I go with Beefeaters, but I usually go with a local one. Right now, I have a bottle from a distiller in Fredrick, MD called McClintock, called their Forager Gin. I like it a lot as it is smooth and not overbearing.

Before that, I had a bottle from a Kansas City Distillery, Corruption Gin. It was strong, but had some good flavor. http://www.toms-town.com/spirits/mcelroys-corruption-gin#
I also like Copper Fox's, from Virginia, their Vir Gin

My wife's family all were skeptical but I've now got them all on the "Gin Train" as we call it.
Wednesday night when I get to Tennessee for Thanksgiving I'll have Hendrick's and Tonic. Start thanksgiving morning with a GinMonster (Gin + Monster Energy Drink) then move into Gin + Grapefruit.
With Thanksgiving Dinner we have Gin & cucumber martinis.
Mostly just go with Gin and tonic though. Please share some other options that you like. -
wkfanLong time Gin drinker......
Gin and tonic with a lime is the best summer time drink there is! -

Will check in to these..........I am lacking on the 'micro gin makers'. I know there are a few in Columbus and Cleveland: Watershed in Cbus and 7 Brothers in Cle. etc.... -

Is the "Gin Train" sort of the like the Trump Train?
That is a lot of gin in one day, Thanksgiving.
Regarding Hendricks and Boodles and other great gins, I don't usually like to dilute them with tonic ........prefer a dry martini (literally three drops of vermouth), UP, with 2 large green olives. -
OSHGin and juice, Snoop was spot on.
-
AutomatikI have a nice gin, cucumber lemonade recipe. It's nice for warm weather gatherings. I usually use Beefeater. That's as far as my gin consumption goes.

Care to share? My wife doesn't like gin that much but could probably get behind it with cucumber lemonadeAutomatik;1882553 wrote:I have a nice gin, cucumber lemonade recipe. It's nice for warm weather gatherings. I usually use Beefeater. That's as far as my gin consumption goes. -

See, I like my martini largely the same way, just no olives.QuakerOats;1882525 wrote:Is the "Gin Train" sort of the like the Trump Train?

I usually go 2.5-3 ounces of gin and about 1 ounce of dry vermouth. I may add just a little lemon peel or juice.
It is normally my go to Friday evening cocktail to end a work week. -
TBone14Love gin. Go to is Sapphire. Also like Hendricks.
Gimlet is my favorite drink. Ice. Gin. Splash of lime juice (fresh).
I'll do gin and tonics. Prefer the diet tonic from the store as opposed to the regular bottled tonic.
However, if you want a treat, pick up a bottle of Jack Rudy Tonic syrup. Some good gin, .75 oz of tonic syrup and top with soda water and you have a hell of a good gin & tonic.

While at the Jack Rudy store, get yourself some of their bitters too. Dynomite in an Old Fashioned.
Martini order. Sapphire martini. Up. No olives but with a lemon twist. -
supermanI drink Scotch, neat. Like a man.
Hope this helps.
Clear alcohols are for rich woman on diets. -

QuakerOatsI did try a new gin drink this summer ......... chopped some rhubarb from my backyard patch, simmered it up w sugar, and made rhubarb syrup; added maybe half an ounce of this syrup (not in to too much sweetness) to several ounces of gin, ice, lime wedge, and a splash of tonic. Drink has a nice pink hue and is pretty refreshing on a hot evening.
