Joe Rychnovsky (Toledo, BCSN)

Laley23I know not many people on her know Joe, bit those from NW Ohio will know that he was one of the nicest human beings on earth...and truly one of the unluckiest. He has passed on today from Cancer (about the 5th kick in thennts life threw at him). I got to know him really well over the 4 yrs I spent at BCSN. Honestly you won't meet a nicer person. Really sad, and Toledo lost a voice/personality who loved every second of what he did...broadcasting the local high school kids games.
This was a special he did about 9 months ago, you can see how much his job meant to him.

Wasnt really sure where to post this, SB seemed the best. -
vball10setactually those of us in NW Ohio prolly knew him (or of him) best...he's been here since the early 2000's, and was definitely one of the nicest, most sincere guys in the business...RIP, Joe!

slingshot4everSad to hear he passed away, but I don't recall him being the nicest....he was shady as a reporter

TBone14Met him a couple of times in passing. Had no opinion of him good or bad. He was always friendly and seemed to enjoy whatever he was doing. The radio show he used to do on weekend mornings on The Ticket was absolutely brutal but some of the work he did on various news broadcasts was good.
He got assigned to some bullshit throughout the years so I'll give him credit because he seemed to take it all seriously. I'm pretty sure I heard him calling Pickleball on BCSN a few months ago.
Sad to hear of the news. Laley and VBall's opinion seem to be the consensus. -

He wasn't the best at his job, I have no problem admitting that lol.TBone14;1863122 wrote:Met him a couple of times in passing. Had no opinion of him good or bad. They very rarely are, especially at the local stage...he was passionate about what he did, and anyone that can make local sports entertaining is okay in my book (and btw, thank you for creating this thread)Laley23;1863153 wrote:He wasn't the best at his job, I have no problem admitting that lol.
