Two fun things to do in your city

  • SportsAndLady
We have a lot of different cities/towns represented on here. Name your city, and then name your two favorite things to do or places to go to.

    I live in Chicago.

    1) different breweries/taprooms. To name a few, Revolution taproom in Logan square, Lagunitas brewery on 17th st, and half acre taproom in ravenswood.

    2) wrigley field

    Name yours!

Bonus if you want to name something that is popular that you don't really like. For me, Broadway shows. Went to one last year, not for me.

Well I live in Delaware, so there isn't much. But I'll give it a shot.

    1. Son of Thurman. Great burgers and great beer selection.

    2. Just walking around downtown and checking out the shops and old stores.

As far as popular but don't like...The Delaware County Fair and The Jug horse race. I have never seen so many trashy people. Definitely not for me.

    Cincinnati here

    1. Aronoff center offers some great culture for a city our size.

    2. Sports Not really a fan of UC or X but they both have great atmospheres for basketball. We also have some of the best high school football in the world.

Popular things that I don't like:
    Breweries/taprooms
    City parks
  • Fab4Runner
    Akron:

    RubberDucks games.

    Excellent metropark system.

    Cincinnati:

    1. Go to a brewery. This is a great beer city, I'd be very surprised if you didn't find something you like. Unless you're a weirdo like superman. My recommendations (in no particular order): MadTree, Rhinegeist, Woodburn Brewery, Urban Artifact, Nine Giant. There are other great breweries in the city, these are just my favorite.

2a. Grab a bite to eat. Cincinnati is a great food city as well. Eli's BBQ, The Eagle, Jeff Ruby, Terry's Turf Club, Zip's, Arthur's, and on, and on, and on.

2b. Go the GABP. The Reds aren't great at the moment, but the ballpark is nice, reasonably priced, and there is a lot to eat/drink within walking distance or a short uber ride.

... for fun in Youngstown, OH:

    1. Very nice Metro Park (Mill Creek Park---36 hole Donald Ross design golf course)
    2. Plenty of good places to eat and micro-brews popping up around town now.

    Mercer County

    1: Drink
    2: Drink
  • BR1986FB
    Sebring

    1) Annual Fireman's Festival
    2) Nothing (or what vdubb96 said)

There is nothing exciting about this town, at all. Actually don't mind that though. Plenty of heroin issues but the town doesn't have a "problem" according to the police.

  • Laley23
    Raleigh, NC

    1. Great food/breweries
    2. Jordan Lake
2a. Once a year we have Brewgaloo -- downtown closes and all the breweries and food trucks from NC, SC, Virginia and some further line the streets. Just a giant party for 3 days. It's amazing.

I was thinking about what West Milton's list would be and came up with nothing. Do stoners still go get high in the woods at Lowry?

Not surprised. Town seems like a dump anymore. You think it is/will be a problem with the schools?

NY, NY. I'll go with favorite warm weather activities.

Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Sunday's at Output roof when the weather is nice. Great music and view of Manhattan. Sound quality is top notch and so is the people watching. I fucking love that place. I'd kill to DJ up there.

Fort Tilden beach, tip of the Rockaways. It's a haul to get there, but well worth it. It's more remote than other beaches, topless, and minimal rules. It's a 10 minute walk from Jacob Riis Park, also very cool....lots of bars and food options.

Popular that I don't like? Bar hopping in the East Village. Maybe it's because I'm older, but that area just pisses me off now. Overrun with tourists and drunken bros. There are still lots of awesome food options, but overall the bars are shit.
