Cedar Point - Best things to do

Agreed on the Diamondback, though I haven't been there since Banshee opened.TedSheckler;1854846 wrote:The Beast is a classic and great. I think the Diamonback is the best coaster KI has.
This thread reminded me I haven't been to Cedar Point since I was a senior in high school (2001) and that I need to go back soon. -

Beast is awesome. Feels like you build up to 150 mph in a curve going through tunnels. It's insane.
Rode it 3x last year and wait was 15 min or less due to newer rides. -

The first time I ever went to CP, the Corkscrew got stuck upside down during a test run while we were waiting in line. I jumped out of line so fast lol.Commander of Awesome;1854891 wrote:What the hell is wrong with Vortex and the Corkscrew?

jmogI was there this past Sunday.
I absolutely love days that are supposed to rain all day and then don't. Park was nearly empty.
I waited no longer than 5 minutes for any single ride. Rode Top Thrill 3x, Millenium 2x, Maverick 2x, Val Raven 2x, Power Tower 4x (3x in a row they never made us unstrap, just let us go again), etc.
The most under rated rides in the whole park are sitting next to each other, MaXair (really a great ride, will not have to wait), and the Wicked Twister, won't wait for that either.
I absolutely love coasters, you can't go fast enough for me (Top Thrill, Millenium, even do Rip Cord there a few times), but to be honest MaXair maybe my favorite ride there. -

Beast is awesome, no doubt about it, and should be higher than Raptor. Millenium Force is definitely better than Beast, maybe Val Raven and Maverick now are as well, but those are close to Beast.Commander of Awesome;1854664 wrote:Have you ever rode The Beast? Trying to decide if you're ignorant of how great the beast is, or just have horrible horrible coaster taste.
Beast was by far the best coaster I have ever been on until Millenium Force opened. -
jmogI have to say it again, I used to laugh at the MaXair and would just walk right by it and head to the bigger coasters.
A few years ago one of my sons was young enough that he was too scared to ride the really big ones but wanted to ride the Gemini, Iron Dragon, etc. So he wanted to try the MaXair. The ride opened in 2005 and I probably didn't ride it until 2011 or 2012. When my son and I rode it (wife was off with older boy riding Millenium), I immediately called my wife and had her bring the other boy over so we could all ride it. Absolutely love that ride, it is truly top 3 or 4 at CP, but everyone just walks right on by it thinking it is a small ride. -
Dr Winston O'BoogieI love the Beast. I was 9 years old when it opened and rode it that summer. It towered over anything else out there at the time. It's uniqueness continues to keep it at the top of any roller coaster list. However, it is not the thrill ride it once was when compared to what's out there today. I hadn't ridden it for many years, before going back to it about 4 years ago. When I rode it then, I was somewhat surprised with how tame and slow it seemed compared to the newer coasters.
Don't get me wrong, it's still a classic. But it doesn't occupy the same echelon it used to.
Anyone remember the commercials on TV for it the summer it opened. "Ride the Beast. The biggest, baddest, tallest, fastest racing coaster in the world." -
vball10setfeed the kids their French fries and they'll love you forever (used to be called Mama Berardi's, but now I think they're just called Cedar Point fries)

I think the most underrated rides (lol debating this on this thread after Justin's comments) would be Cedar Downs (only two of these exist) and Power Tower Shoot Up.jmog;1854913 wrote:

The first time I rode it, was there with my wife and two sons when they were too little for coaster. I had no idea what it was, just hopped in - and got blown away with the acceleration into the dark. I had a few seconds of terror before I figured out what was happening. Very well-designed.gerb131;1855237 wrote:Still a fan of Flight of Fear at KI gets me every time

Power Tower 4x (3x in a row they never made us unstrap, just let us go again)
Reminds me of a day like that at Kings Island. Our youngest son was about 9, and we were watching him and one of his classmates go on Adventure Express. We kept waiting and waiting for them to come out of the exit, and they never showed. Finally I got in line, actually walked straight to the boarding platform. Here comes the coaster on the return, our son and his friend are in the front seat laughing, and they're asking the operator "one more time?". And there were only 5 or 6 people in the "line", if you could call it that. They'd been riding it over and over.
The operator just rolled his eyes and nodded - and away they went. They ended up riding in the front seat continuously for over 30 minutes before they got tired and took a break.
I told them to treasure this day. -
