Interior Paint

justincredibleWhen you're painting a room in your house, what paint do you typically use? We've always used Valspar in the past, and have been mostly happy with it. I've heard people swear by Behr paint, as well. I'm considering Benjamin Moore for our new house as we've got a ACE right down the street and I've heard really good things about BM paint.
-
Con_AlmaUsed Valspar Reserve on some exterior trim and absolutely loved it.
-
power iI've used Valspar and Behr and there isn't that much difference. Both are good.

wkfanNothing but Sherwin Williams.....
I've used many kinds of paint over the years and have found that Sherwin Williams, while expensive is the best..... -
SnotBubblesWe use nothing but Sherwin Williams as well. You pay a little more, but the quality is by far the best. Ask any commercial painter in the US, and 95% of them go to Sherwin Williams.

Belly35After 3 renovation homes and 1 condemned home rebuild I learned early buy the best and save money and time. Sherwin Williams what ever it cost to have the best paint....
-
cat_loverCan't go wrong with Sherwin Williams. It is a little more expensive but it is well worth it. It covers well and holds up well.

ernest_t_bassThat looks interesting. What is the point of that? I've never seen something like that before.

No need to drywall or put up drop-ceiling. We currently have drop-ceiling in the basement of the new house that I'll be ripping out at some point. I might go this route and just black it out.ernest_t_bass;1854342 wrote:That looks interesting. What is the point of that? I've never seen something like that before. -
ernest_t_bassPaint wires and everything black, I assume? Anything showing gets painted black?
-
wildcats20My gf's parents have done that in their basement. It's really nice, even though it's pretty dark. You just have to make sure you have good lighting.
-
wildcats20I wish I had more up to date and better pictures. Those are not finished products.

Pretty much. I've seen people paint them white or gray for non-finished or partially finished basements as well.ernest_t_bass;1854345 wrote:Paint wires and everything black, I assume? Anything showing gets painted black? -
SpockYes paint everything flat black. Its amazing how everything disappears from your vision when black. Like posted above, plan on a lot more lighting. Set all your can lights before painting also. Also out outlets in your ceiling for added light like rope lighting

justincredibleDid you spray it yourself or hire out?
-
SpockMyself. Bought the 5 gallon Sherwin Williams paint. It went on great. I was lucky and borrowed a industrial sprayer. It took 20 minutes for the whole thing. It took longer to clean the sprayer then it did to paint. Buy the good paint barrier paper for the floor. You will need it
-
SpockLikely need 10-15 gallons for a big area
-
justincredibleThe finished area of our basement is about 330 square feet, so it's not a very big space.

ernest_t_bassJustin - You could just have ccrunner come to your house and paint your basement... : thumbup:

I think I'd rather hire a bum off the street than invite that guy into my home.ernest_t_bass;1854366 wrote:Justin - You could just have ccrunner come to your house and paint your basement... : thumbup: -

saltoBig fan of Martin-Senour, which is a line of Sherman-Williams. I like their Colonial (Williamsburg) colors.
