What is your profession?

Curly JPC/LAN Technician for a large Pharmacy Benefits Manager. Been at the job for 10 years. It's funny how the Technology/Infrastructure changed over the last 10 years. It was a lot more work years ago as the site housed over 50 Servers. Now with the Enterprise/Data Center model almost all of them have been centralized and a lot of the job functions have went away, making me more of just a Hardware Tech. (swapping out keyboards, mice, and monitors...lol)

It's also amazing how many of them do dumb shit (miss simple details, provide too much information, etc) on their proposals, which as a result knocks them out of competition.ptown_trojans_1;1844639 wrote:Figured you were in the field. Yeah, you should eventually do that consulting work. It is amazing how many small businesses are out there that could easily win the work, especially sole source awards.
I'm also in the contracting field. I'm a business development rep. for an infrastructure/ construction firm.
I love it as it is something I did not think I would be doing 5 years ago, but here I am.
Dream job, probably some tenured academic job where all I would have to do is travel to conferences, drink, and occasionally write/ teach. That was my path initially when I was at a DC think tank, but life happens and other doors open up. -

Wolves of BabylonI am VP(meaningless bank title) of Consumer Lending Originations and Underwriting managing that department for a Large Bank.
I enjoy my job and where I'm at professionally. If I could start over I would have stuck with my first major (Physical Therapy) and would have liked to work for a Professional team or College athletics.

ironman02I'm an Accountant for a major utility company. Started out working with the company in a different area for about 3 years, but have worked in various accounting roles for the last 4 years. It's not a dream job, but it's still pretty solid. For the most part, I like the people that I work with and my hours are typically pretty standard, even during our busy times of the month/year.

Ha small world. I am a Demand Planning Manager in south Charlotte though for a smaller ($300M) privately owned manufacturer of AV/tech equipment.arnie palmer;1844599 wrote:Global Demand Planning Manager for a $3B division of a Fortune 500 Company. I have 4 demand planners that create the forecasts with commerical and product manager input that drive manning levels, production schedules, and supply orders for the entire division. I enjoy my job and love the company that I am at now for the last 5 years. I really do make a lot of money for my job level and have great work/life balance with hardly any work travel or any non stardard 8-5 work hours needed.
I had the opportunity to be a women's graduate assistant basketball coach a year after I graduated. I decided not to take it since I had a job, and some cash, and did not want to go back to being a poor student again. I kind of regret not trying it though. The lady that offered me the job is now the head coach at The University of Albany and one of my close friends is an assistant coach at Ball State. I have always had a love for basketball and been involved with the game my entire life. Instead of that path, I have been a high school referee for 20 years and now coach my kids' rec league teams instead. -

once again non-participation, unable to answer a simple question. Then reverts to assumption and unjustified accusation. You hide behind the screen and keyboard like a coward. For those whom I have made friends with on the OC and the open invites to others will justify my character. But what about you anyone on the OC can or will justify your being. Whom have you ever attempted to reach out to give support. The grit of a individual is the openness of their friendship. I'm comfortable who I am.. And those who have participated in the thread are too.isadore;1845371 wrote:gosh a ruddies, ridicule of a useful avocation by a undereducated, bigoted buffoon serving as a self appointed gate keeper of the thread.

Gosh a ruddies. What is it? Did some kids cut across your lawn or isn’t your prune juice working? One advantage of the internet is that even a person with your obvious intellectual and personality limitations can find people who are simpatico. Sorry, simpatico is a Spanish word that means that you and those folks share interests or attributes.<o></o>Belly35;1845403 wrote:once again non-participation, unable to answer a simple question.
