Bitcoin?
-
O-TrapWho has gotten into buying/selling/paying with/etc. Bitcoin? I'm interested in trying it out, but I've never done it, so I'm not even sure what all is involved. I've done a little Google searching, but what I've come up with either further muddies the waters or makes it seem more complicated than I expected it to be (which might be true, to be fair).
Is there a source or training on how to get into it that anyone would recommend? -

It's what got me thinking about it, yeah.like_that;1840965 wrote:https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/laurashin/2017/03/10/sec-rejects-winklevoss-bitcoin-etf-sending-price-tumbling/amp/
Is this why you are interested?
But while I've been around people who are familiar, I've never gotten into it myself. I figured I'd start. -

O-TrapSo, this seems to really have been making a move, but not just BTC. There's been what looks like an explosion of cryptocurrencies.
Has anyone else been getting into them? -
SpockIs that where I give my bank routing numbers to that guy in Nigeria?

It's kind of like musical chairs, or any number of bubble stocks you could pile into. You could make some money, so long as you aren't holding the bag when the party is over.O-Trap;1858221 wrote:So, this seems to really have been making a move, but not just BTC. One of the problems that has always been a huge issue for cryptocurrencies is that these start-ups are basically over when the govt and/or big banks get in the game.
Also, be weary of these returns. You are probably fine as a tiny investor, but there's a lot of manipulation going on. -

I see Ethereum is way up since the beginning of the year. It started at $8, now it's almost $400. One of these days I'll buy into one at the right time and make a killing.O-Trap;1858221 wrote:So, this seems to really have been making a move, but not just BTC. I've thrown a few bucks at a couple small ones in the last few days. If they fail, I'm out little. If they maintain, I'm no worse for wear. If they surge, my ROI is titties.justincredible;1858321 wrote:I see Ethereum is way up since the beginning of the year. It started at $8, now it's almost $400. justincredibleBTC is over $5900 right now. It was $3900 a month ago.
If someone bought $100 worth when it was 1¢ they could unload it for a cool $59mil today. -

That is insane for 1 month. The Norks are probably stockpiling bitcoin ahead of a nuclear launch.justincredible;1878088 wrote:BTC is over $5900 right now. It was $3900 a month ago. -

Crazy bubble. It's not that thinly traded or low volume to have those kind of gains. I think there's some serious market manipulation going on there (it's not regulated).justincredible;1883580 wrote:$9500
Buy the next dip, get out with double your money, and then let the house money ride if you like. -
TBone14Missed the boat on all of this and I had the knowledge/opportunity to explore it further but I never bought in. I participated as an employer in a mock interview event put on by the BGSU MBA program in late 2013. One of the people I interviewed brought up his hobbies and they included "harvesting" bitcoins. Basically, he used computers with special software that somehow mined bitcoins. Never understood that part of it. The kid called it the currency of the future. I just wrote it off but in retrospect, the price was like $100 back then. Even buying 10 coins for a $1000 investment would be worth a damn 100k right now. I'm so mad at myself for not recognizing the opportunity and really getting into it more. That kid was like a gift from the heavens by making me aware of it very early in the game and I was too dumb to capitalize.

justincredibleEthereum is $475ish (less than $300 a month ago). I'm contemplating dropping some dough in that and hoping for the best.

Monero was about $45 at the time. Wish I'd gone heavier. It's currently at $165 or so.O-Trap;1858394 wrote:A little in Monero, and a few bucks in LiteCoin and Golem.
