Until September 1, I will still be a part of that group, still have a few quality posts left for them.Belly35;1804867 wrote:The Huddle was at one time a fun place with lots of personalities posting, some really great thread and pics. I hope that some OC will be graceious and respectful in welcoming those Huddle memeber who find the OC in and not be your standard dickhead attitude.
At the time of the $12 membership debacle, I chose to stay with them, because I was having a blast on there, and it was cheap entertainment - I think that lasted two years, then they went back to free again. They did lose a lot of folks I enjoyed reading (some of who I see on here and on Yappi), but there were enough of us in the Mid-State League Buckeye who stayed on to at least keep the football threads interesting. And I have enjoyed the basketball/music thread by One Who Knows during that time.
Oh well, like the wildwood weed, all good things gotta come to an end.
Belly, didn't you make a memorable return to the Huddle recently? -

He did. Something along the lines of "I'm back mofos." And then no one knew who he was... hahaZunardo;1804884 wrote: Belly, didn't you make a memorable return to the Huddle recently? -

Anyone wanting to talk sports is going to Yappi, no questions asked.Sonofanump;1804923 wrote:I think they will end up at Yappi, not here.
You may gain a few that just want to shoot the shit here, but JJ and Yappi people view this as a place where 15 retard dickheads post about dumb shit all day, which won't help our cause.
The fact that they're not that far off anymore also doesn't help -
Ironman92I feel there are at least 20+ of us and the dickheadedness is something I just don't see. A newbie who is a dumbass probably won't stay long but this place has some "When in Rome" aspects but 99% is in good fun.

cat_loverMaybe this site could charge $12 for people to join, that will draw people.

like_thatLol, we did a "active member" check in thread about 2 years ago to get a count on how many active members still post here. The number was in the 50s. I'm sure it's decreased a bit, but for he most part we still have the same core posters.
I like Justin, but he took his ball and went home. He struggled with finding an identity for OC. It started out as a free for all and then it was somewhat strict. There was a point it got too strict for our standards (foundation of the site was pretty much we all said fuck you JJ), so it went back to pretty much being a free for all. Between all the flip flopping of identities we had the easily butt hurt leave the site and the non butt hurt leave the site because they were getting bullshit infractions. Imo, Justin should have stuck to the free for all format that made OC awesome and aligned the site with moderators that fit that identity (heretic, Wes, go chiefs, etc. def not cry4fail). Justin created his own monster and then just left. -

O-TrapI love their plug for Yappi. Not that I blame them, as that place is still centered on sports.
So, if I buy the FreeHuddle.com domain name, do you think I'll get a certified letter now? -
Ironman92I like this damn place. Even more now that my the blocked posters rarely post much now (or maybe just not until football)
I do wish the Reds and Steelers stuff had something on here but it's still ok. RedsZone fills most of my needs but the over abundance of general manager wannabes and smug metrics posters are irritating.
I've tried a couple of Steelers message boards and they are not for me at all. -

They are the worst, as many boards specifically for one team! There are a few steelers fans in here but mostly get ripped on by the high class browns fans that run amuck on this site.Ironman92;1804979 wrote:I like this damn place. I don't mind the Browns fans. They make up a large portion of this board and are pretty consistent in their ways and it's not that hard to share the playground with during recess.thavoice;1804982 wrote:They are the worst, as many boards specifically for one team! I do my thing for my needs. I'll start a game thread and just post to myself...while idiotic and sad it keeps me from yelling at the tv and being Johnny jackass to my family while the game is on....especially on night games. Also I'm a sports fanatic and will reverse jinx the hell out of a lot of things but I try to refrain from going on their teams' threads and doing it (on occasion for fun as part of a mutual ribbing)
My #1 wish on here would be more general MLB talk because that's my favorite and where I have the most knowledge....but understand. I can't find a good MLB board that is decent at all. The team only sites cannot open their eyes to other teams or players being good and that drives me crazy. I'm a big enough loser on these sites but those guys will post 10 paragraph posts and go back and forth arguing for 10 pages over certain topics. You make a joke and no one gets it. I assume their parents have nice basements for those 30 year olds. -

I am a baseball guy through and through. The tough thing about MLB talk is that with your team playing practically every day it is difficult to really get to see other games and players as much. When I have more free time, this year being one with the reds being tough to watch, I will go to our local summer HS games, and there is a collegiate wood bat league that I will go watch before sitting in front of the boob tube and watching another MLB game. NFL is so different as you can watch other teams quite a bit more. THat is why I usually know the bengals and browns goings-on quite a bit.Ironman92;1804987 wrote:I don't mind the Browns fans. I don't post during games and such so I don't get into that game time banter back and forth with people. -

The plug for Yappi makes sense, since the only sport discussed here is wrestling. Hell, I do all of my HS FB stuff on there. I don't think there were many ST/I posters left on JJ to begin with, but they may find their way here (or way back here in some cases). Yappi's non-HS forums are pretty dull.
