Indianapolis

I've never been there. Don't know if I ever will. But I have a phone interview tomorrow about a job there and depending how that goes, I'll be going there to interview. Obviously, it's a big move. Not a far move, but big move uprooting the family and moving. Not that Canton is a booming metropolis, but being relatively close to Cleveland and driving distance to Columbus, just wondering how Indianapolis stacks up to these 2. People claim it's similar to Midwest cities like Columbus. My reservation is... Well it's Indiana. Which all I know about Indiana is South Bend and boring drives.
Id appreciate insight from those who have been.

Indianapolis is a gorgeous city, with plenty to do. For the most part it's clean, safe and has good people.

I'd sure the fuck much rather be in Indy than Cleveland. Drive a hour South of Indy and be in Brown county.

unless there's a golf course in there, that doesn't do anything for me.

Lots of great golf courses close to Indy. I believe US Open was in Carmel not that long ago. I would like living in Indy. It's not really "like" the rest of Indiana. Lots to do. Years ago even the strip clubs were top notch.

PGA was at Crooked Stick. I'm assuming that's what you're thinking.

More like Columbus than Cleveland in terms of being less ethnic. More vibrant downtown than either.

Job hopping Z4P are you that guy in the black pants..... :)

Indianapolis has a lot to offer to a young family and careers. But it is Indiana.... I has several friends and business relationships there. Hey! maybe we can have the same friends and I can visit you.

Indy is great. Much better downtown than Cleveland or Columbus IMO.

There was this one night in 1989. Borrowed my dads big van and a bunch of us went to see the Pacer's. I think Clark Kellogg was even playing back then.....We toured a few nightspots. Impressive.....but lots have changed since 1989.

I've been downtown a few times. Felt perfectly safe walking my family around down there at night. Its also pretty easy to navigate around.

Been to Indy many times for work, if I had to live anywhere in the Midwest other than NE Ohio or Columbus, it would be Indy. Nice city, clean, plenty to do, and not far from a ton of interesting outdoor stuff.

I probably have been there a dozen times on business trips.

Talked to a few people that lived there. They all say its pretty nice. Not a ton to do though. They also all say Carmel is the suburb to live in.

Indy is great. I'll jump in like everyone else has said. I've spent several nights, days, and weekends there.

I'm hoping for an interview in Indy too. Just applied a week or so ago. Probably won't happen, but always trying to think positively about it!

Ill be staying there on the 9th of July, I was also curious what to do nightlife wise with my wife in downtown Indy. We have tickets to take things into the Antiques Roadshow.......don't judge haha, we may be the youngest people there. (With me at 38 and my wife 33) We like to have a few drinks and relax, we like good bar food and are willing to pay good money for good environment and food. We are dissapointed there isn't a casino really close to the city that we could find. Any suggestions for a night in Indy?
