Saying goodbye to your dog ...

  That is tough to deal with. Tough to lose them in general, but it's gotta be the hardest when you're watching them decline and wondering when and if you'll have to make the call for them. Do you have plans to get another, because I know people who do because they like having a dog (or pet, in general) around and people who don't because after losing their buddy, they just don't have any desire to just replace them?

  If it happens, it will be a long while, I have a feeling.
  
  Taking care of elderly parents simultaneously has made it a juggling act, so it will be some relief to refocus for a while and not have to continually be racing back and forth all the time, etc...etc...

  In my opinion this is tougher than losing a friend. Had to put mine down 2 years ago. That dog was the greatest. Cancer and no treatment could help her. 11 year old boxer. She stopped eating and it was just time. Very very hard!

  Just know that you did right by him and sent him out lovingly. Dogs are the best.
