I can pay b/t $500-$600 and do it myself, or $1400 to have someone come out and do it, as well as train the dogs. And I don't have to do shit... except continue training of the dogs when he leaves.

The training is pretty straight forward. It wouldn't take you much time. Just beware, like rip34 said, some dogs will take a shock to get what they want, and there's not much you can do about it.

I wouldn't worry about brand as much as wire gauge size. Buy whoever offers the thickest burial cable. The technology is very basic.... Your controller emits a frequency into the cable and your collar picks it up. no one is going to be exponentially different than another. Thickest burial cable well help against wire breaks which can be a pain to dig up and find. The wire will be easily the most expensive cost in the package, so cheaper units will invariably have smaller gauge wire, so just be careful that you dont get some chincy, small cable.

From what I've read, about every pet-safe system has 20 gauge wire. I'll be buying 16 gauge, probably.

    it'd be a smart move.

I don't think this is 16 gauge, but this might be what I go with:

I'd be really nervous to use a solid core 20 gauge wire. that screams break to me. Stranded wire will be a lot easier to work with... and a thicker gauge like 14 or 16, and a good jacket, will be tough to break.

I'm all ears if you know of any. I also have a price point in mind when looking, which is why I posted the one.

If you guys are wondering why there is no one on here anymore, there's your answer.
Zwick supports Bernie Sanders. I hope everything makes sense for you now.

Not bad. I also need to note I need 2100 feet. What I'm trying to do is keep the price under a certain level for my cost/benefit analysis when comparing to having someone install it. Based on the wire I posted, this is my breakdown:

    Myself:
    - Petsafe Yardman
    - 2 collars
    - 2000 feet of the line I posted
    - Cable burier rental
    - Comes out around $650 estimated with tax, maybe more.

    Company Install:
    - Unit
    - 2 Collars
    - However much line is needed
    - Install
    - 3 or 4 training sessions
    - Just under $1400, but I can work with him on price based on how I pay, removing training sessions, etc.

Edit: For the company install, I've set their price at $1000. If I can get them down to $1000, I'll more than likely go with them. If my self install estimate gets close to $700, then I will lean heavily toward company install.

Dude if you need 2100 feet, don't even think about less than 16 gauge wire. 20 gauge will give you a very weak signal.

Which is making me lean closer and closer to having it installed by someone else, who has warranties, etc.

Got it down to $1200 for a one day install and training session. This price eliminates tax b/c of all cash payment, and eliminates 2 training sessions. He is using 16 gauge wire, which is good.

    Pros:
    - Lifetime warranty
    - I don't have to install
    - Training session
    - $75 in my pocket for every person I refer.

Lol'd. This reminds me of the workout thread where people should forget any conventional ideas or knowledge about working out and just hang with you instead.
