Cincinnati Eateries

  • BRF
My son attends UC and I've been trying out some eateries there that I wanted to comment on and get input from the OC.

Camp Washington - Da bomb chili. Love the 4 way with beans. I also tried goetta, which being of German heritage, intrigued me. I love it! Eggs on top with a little syrup. Next time I will probably try it with hot sauce. For those that don't know, goetta is supposedly uniquely Cincinnati and was made back in the day with sausage and oatmeal. Mine tasted more like mush in it, which I like very much. (btw, I am fascinated by the historic German architecture, although I would not like to be a UPS guy for a lot of those steps.)

Senate - big all beef specialty hot dog dishes that are superb. I had the Trailer Park. Thumbs up!

Steak and Lemonaide - just ok, nothing to rave about there. (The one I went to was on Vine St. near the Bogart Theater. Last Sunday night, there was a huge line waiting to get in. It was for a Celtic punk band called Dropkick Murphys. Apparently they are pretty famous.)

    I suggest Eli's BBQ - 3313 Riverside Dr.
    Taft's Ale House -
    1429 Race Street
The Eagle OTR - 1342 Vine Street

    All are phenomenal.

    Over rated.

I second Eli's BBQ. It's got better hot dogs than senate.

Also Camp Washington will make a grilled cheese with Goetta on it.

The Eagle is the GOAT. Their fried chicken is amazing.

Nada is downtown on 6th Street and it is really great as well.

Bakersfield is in OTR and they have great food as well.

Zips is my favorite burger place and it's in Mt. Lookout.

Adriaticos is my favorite Pizza place. It's up by UCs campus.

A Tavola is a little pricey but it's a pizza place in OTR and it's pretty good.

If you're a sushi person, Teak in Mt. Adams is legit.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I now have a nice list of places to check out.

Are there no fans of the goetta?

I like Goetta. Make it at home.

This particular Eli's only has two locations, and both are in Cincinnati. One of them is carry-out only.
