Great question and you will not get an answer....

Shocking how you'd dumb it down to a partisan political issue.

Well, since he asked me...I'll give it a shot.

People are just upset that their situations aren't improving. Yet they don't realize that they are standing in the way of their own progress. You get a bunch of people like that together in one area, and people start looking at the outside for blame. Mix that with high profile cases like Trayvon, Ferguson, Samir Rice, and LaQuan McDonald, and you've got a recipe for disaster. BLM capitalized on that and formed a social movement aimed at shedding light on what they feel are injustices against people of color. It's not a violent group, but they damn sure are angry.

Now, I'm not the type of person who thinks that there's this over-arching evil preventing me from getting ahead. The whole "The man trying to get me down" mentality was never allowed in my family. My parents didn't raise me to believe that someone else was in control of my future. If I failed in life, it was because of me. If I succeeded, it would be because of me. However, there are people who don't believe in that. There are people who believe that the white collective is purposely trying to undercut any progress we (as black people) make as a community or race or whatever. That's how we came to this term white oppression.

The organizations that I align myself with believe in the same principles that my parents believed in. You have to want better for yourself in order for you to actually become better. You can't let the influences of your poor surroundings stop you from achieving whatever goals you've set for yourself.

I don't outright support the BLM movement. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel anger when Rice's shooter wasn't indicted. I'm angry at the leadership of my newly adopted home city for allegedly covering up the McDonald case. What I do believe is that we will see less protests, and more political activism and awareness. The movement is shifting from being a bunch of angry people with signs to a group whose purpose is to educate the uninformed, and bring new ideas on how to improve our communities.

It was really more of a public service announcement. Did not figure you would get it.

I'm going to play devils advocate to try to answer.

My understanding is that when someone is shot in the street everyone understands that is a crime. But when someone is shot by a cop and they get off then it feels like the establishment OKs it and their lives don't matter.

I'm not black, but I have been harassed by the cops when I was younger. I get that some cops can be assholes and if they started shooting people who looked like me it might seem like my life didn't matter.

I am in no way defending the thugs who get shot by police every day. I have friends who are cops and I do not envy the responsibility they have every day and the shit they have to put up with.

When cops are assholes to you, do you comply?

Most of the time. It's why I don't get shot (and I definitely understand that) I have run from the cops before after a football game when other idiots were rioting. I have been pulled over when I was 18ish at night and they told me I should go home and I didn't because curfew didn't apply to me.

But I'm not black. I don't really know what a black persons experience is. I tend to think they are overreacting but I don't know

I meant comply as in don't talk back to the officer or give resistance, which sounds like you didn't. The other shit you talked about (running from cops during a riot, and not going home after curfew) is just juvenile shit lol.

The point is, you complied and somehow cops weren't out to kill you. Crazy. I also have had black friends comply with officers and somehow they are alive and doing well for themselves.

this is exactly where the Black Lives Matter could make a big difference in the world. If they would call these so called black men out for a crime. See if they really cared about black lives they would be fighting to save these kids before they loose their life like these boys probably just did. They will be caught probably for this crime but if not they will get caught the next time. If they go down in a fight with the cops you won't see these pictures on the news by the Black Lives Matter Crews you will see pictures of these boys dressed to go to church. The crime part is the part I struggle with the most. I am not black and I have no doubt that at times things can not be fare....but I still truly believe that almost always if you are good and follow the laws you will not be in trouble or killed.
