Cell Phone

Midstate01What cell do you guys have. Finally upgrading from my Note4. Going with the S6 edge+. Hate giving up the removable battery and the spot to insert a memory card, but my phone kept crashing like crazy.
What phone do you have?
Anyone have the s6? -
friendfromlowryiPhone 6s. I'd be interested in trialing different ones but I'm afraid I'd end up hating them.
-
Automatikiphone 5S. Waiting on that 7 dawg.
-
Commander of Awesomeiphone 5S as well with a cracked screen, persnickety usb charging slot and a batt life that depletes itself faster than I can chug a beer. I'm eligible for a new phone in ~2 weeks, not sure I can make it for the 7

AutomatikI'm in the same boat. My battery is fucked.
I'm debating switching over to the "lease" style plans where you your bill goes up X amount and always have the latest phone. -
Commander of Awesome
Yeah seems most places have switched to that model. It seems to significantly effect your bill though. This is also the last time I'll get a new phone for $200, which sucks. After this, think I'll just buy the phone outright, in the long run you pay less.Automatik;1780721 wrote:I'm in the same boat. My battery is fucked.

Midstate01We are on a family plan so they give us like 25 or 30 a month towards our phones. So we only pay 3 and 4 dollars a piece extra for the phone. Plus you can upgrade every 12 months which is cool. I have Verizon.
-
supermanI have the Note 5. Its nice. With quick charge, you don't really miss the removable battery.
-
Midstate01I had quick charge with the note4, I've read really really good things about the new batteries though.
-
wildcats20I switched over to the pay per month for a phone in December when I upgraded to the 6s. My total monthly bill only went up $9 from what I was paying before. And I basically have the same exact plan, just called something new.
-
Belly35I can get a new phone, we are on a business plan that I've have the family on also.
I want and need is a combo of. iPad Air and a iPhone
all the capabilities of a computer document storage, mIcrosoft, email/ faxing, file folders link to my base computer for file transfer with the communication and apps of a phone....
Im sure this would require a bigger footprint but I'm not apposed to carrying a man satchel w/ pistol pocket and more ammo. -

I have an s6, but not the edge. I will say this, if you aren't happy about giving up the removeable battery, I wouldn't get the s6e. The battery is small on these things so the battery life isn't great. I seemingly always have access to a charger and I set up a few different things to help with battery life, but it simply isn't going to last a long time.Midstate01;1780712 wrote:What cell do you guys have. I had the note3 and will likely go back to the note series when all is said and done for the bigger battery (I hear the stylus will be able to be used as a stand for it). I've heard great reviews about the note5.
I do know that Samsung is coming out with 3 variations of their s7 line including s7, s7e, s7e+. The plus will have a bigger screen and bigger battery.
tl;dr
if you need a phone that lasts you most of the day without a charge and normal or more usage, don't get the s6 unless you're also getting one of the portable charging kits. -
bigkahunaI have the 6s+; just got it a few weeks ago.
I had the 5 for 3 years and finally got fed up with the battery. I'd be at 75%, but then be at <20% after a 5 minute phone call.
My problem now is my storage. I have icloud set up with 50G, but I keep getting storage full warnings for the phone itself. I have 38G open on the cloud, but I can't figure out how to put more on there instead of the phone, if that makes any sense.
If anyone has any input, I'd appreciate it. -
sherm03I've got the DROID Turbo 2. 48 hour battery life and a shatterproof screen.
All of the carriers will push to get you into the installment billing option going forward. They make out on the deal because they no longer subsidize the price and can start making money on your plan immediately instead of a year from now.
If you still want to pay $200 for a phone, you can always go to Best Buy. While the carriers want them to sell installment billing options, they have a much lower focus on doing that than the reps in store. So you can get some really good deals there to save on the up front cost.
The other thing to look at is unlocked phones. With the carriers switching to the installment billing, the smart play is to get unlocked phones that you can take to any carrier. You can either pay for it up front or finance it on a Best Buy credit card and then you don't have to turn it in to the carrier if you want to upgrade early. -
MontyBrunswickFlip phone!

4cards... I have I-phone 6S and like it very much.
-
Fab4RunnerLG G3. I've had two LG phones and like them a lot.
-
IliketurtlesI have the Samsung S6 Edge. I like it a lot and haven't had any issues with the battery but I am not on my phone all the time.

I got the + version so it has the bugger battery.hasbeen;1780737 wrote:I have an s6, but not the edge. My bill dropped when I went ATT next plan. You have to realize that, no matter how you pay for the phone, you pay the same price. You can buy it up front for big $$$, you can put $200 "down" to ATT and it is still added through your bill (whether you know it or not), or you can do the "next" program. It all adds up to paying the same, or pretty close to. Pick your poison. I don't have the maths now, but I had the maths when I chose the NEXT program.Commander of Awesome;1780722 wrote:Yeah seems most places have switched to that model. Quick googling: http://www.cnet.com/news/why-at-ts-new-pricing-plans-are-only-a-bargain-for-some/
If you compare the total cost of ownership of each of these options, you can see the contract plans still end up costing you about $160 less when you consider the cost of paying the monthly service and buying a new smartphone at full price.
An extra $160 doesn't make me QQ. -
AutomatikI can't recall the exact details, but when I calculated I came out pretty close to even.
I have unlimited data, major downside is I'll most likely lose that if I alter my plan. -
sherm03In general, if you plan to keep your phone for more than 2 years...or upgrade within 2 years...you will save money going with No Contract or NEXT.
If you plan to upgrade your phone every two years on the nose, you are generally better off going with the contract price. -

That's what happened to me my last upgrade. I lost my unlimited data and Verizon ever so graciously offered me 6 GB for the price of 2(maybe 3). Which equaled out to the same total cost for me. And when I upgraded recently to the payment plan, I was able to get the same 6gb and the monthly cost for only $9 more.Automatik;1780841 wrote:I can't recall the exact details, but when I calculated I came out pretty close to even.
