Who's your internet provider and how much do you hate them?

This is another thing I don't get... internet vs. "data." I have 350 GB allowance (thanks fucking net neutrality) on my cable internet, and I usually get halfway there. People who have internet through data (verizon/ATT/etc) don't ever come close to that number. I don't get the difference in internet and data.

I have Windstream bundled with Dish. I have no complaints about either one.

(Like last month when my brother in law stayed with us for 2 weeks. My wife gave him the wifi code because he was bored and he watched a bunch of YouTube videos one night)

There are houses about 400m from me on each side that can get time Warner. I'm waiting on a call to tell me how much it will cost to get a line run this far.
I am in similar boat. Twc is quarter mile from us and they told me it was 25k to run the line to my house.

Good news is century link just became available. 25 mbps no cap, 35 a month. Get it next week.

Do you stream shows? Netflix, HBO, etc.? Is your Windstream through phone line or satellite?

If you stream, you will run through 30gb in no time.

We built a new home and moved just outside of the city. We were with twc and easily used 250-300 gb a month. Now we are a quarter mile outside their service area and I tried satellite Internet. Was a joke. They give you 15 gb a month and a bonus 50gb to use between 12-8 am. We now use t-mobile data puck and it's OK on speed but offers unlimited streaming of netflix, hulu, direct TV and some more so it works for now.

Luckily a new provider just opened up and offers good speed with no cap so we are switching.

Living with slow Internet or caps sucks. First world problems.

I have TWC now for the last 4 months. Have had no issues *knock on wood* Cable cutter and haven't had issues streaming.

I had TWC in Pataskala a couple years and it was awful.

I think part of that is people who have a 30G limit know they can't stream. When people visit my wife always gives them our router password and we go through data like crazy until I end up turning off the router.

I'll have to wait and see - we had AT&T's lowest DSL tier for the past 9 years, and we wanted to upgrade to modern era. We'd had TW for cable for 20-something years, and they have steadily jacked their prices for basic cable. I had called a number of times in the past year telling them I'm paying too much and asking if they can give me some consideration for being such a faithful customer - and they rejected me outright. Okay ....

Last October, we stopped at the AT&T store to upgrade our Internet to U-Verse, so that's taken care of. Then we happened to mention cable TV, and the rep says, "Did you know we now own DirectTV? So we picked the satellite TV package similar to what we had thru TW (U-verse cable is not available in my neighborhood), and the bundled payment for phone, Internet, and Direct TV is substantially less than the phone and cable bills were previously - at least for now.

And of course, Time Warner has burned up the phone and the U.S. Mail, trying to get us to come back. The day my wife called TW to cancel, the rep says, "Hold on now - did you know you've been paying too much on your cable bill?" My wife said, "If that's the case, how much are you going to refund us?" He said, "Nothing, but let me see if I can lower your bill from here on out."

Too late, drone. You should have done that when I called previously. Shame on you.

Anyway, so far it's been good. DTV a vast improvement over TW. TW's signal went out so many times in the last year, plus even though we got new boxes, the boxes go blank at times and need two minutes to reset themselves.

    Internet - much, much better

Phone - they moved us to the VOIP, which I'm not familiar with in terms of reliability, just that it's on the Internet, not the original landline. So far, so good, plus they threw in Caller ID. Never had Caller ID before.

Since it's a 2-year commitment on the DTV, I'll report back in 21 months to tell you if the switch was worth it. At least they're not taking the monthly bill out of my account automatically. I'd heard that's how DTV and Dish made their customers do.

Nice try, you can't afford dial up.

I have Uverse. My internet sucks but I think it's because they are DSL and I'm pretty far from the box. I will be switching back to TWC on Monday even though I hate them.

The he worst cable I had was Sunflower cable in Lawrence Kansas. They had zero competition and they charged like $175 a month for cable and Internet. That would t be horrible if you didn't get only 4gb and after that each go was like 1.99

I have TWC and love them. Never had an issue and so far have been cheaper by a long shot compared to the same stations I had with direct and dish. I am going on 7 years with them at this point.
