    The more you know...........

The tennis term love comes from the French for egg (as in zero) le'oeuf......corrupted by English to "love".

Pretty sure tennis is the most gambled on sport in the world.

This seems to be correct. I'm assuming football = soccer given the source

1.2 Regulated betting accounted for $58 billion (or around 14%) of $430 billion in total global gross gambling yield in 2012 and is forecast to reach $70 billion in 2016. It has seen 5.4% compound average growth rates in the period 2001-13, driven by new technologies and product platforms.
1.3 However, the unregulated global betting sector, notably in Asia, is understood to be many times larger than the regulated sector, although no verifiable or precise financial reporting is available. It is believed that, excluding horse racing, 70-85% of the bets placed are on football.

Laley with you being a big soccer fan can't believe you would think that tennis is the most gambled on. I would have said soccer and not expected it to be close.

Also I gamble on tennis... but I gamble on anything really.

Mike & Mike said Soccer was 1st and Tennis 2nd. Said that there's so many tennis matches all over the world every week that you can bet all the time.

My company just bought a gambling/sport odds making company in London. Trust me, tennis is the most bet on sport in the world. Legally, probably not, though still 2nd or 3rd. But that's not what we are talking about.

Tennis has people sitting at a court, relaying point by point updates, and people are betting on those outcomes. It's ridiculous.

youre implying that doesn't happen in other sports as well.

Are there such things as tennis fantasy leagues? I remember being floored the first time I saw a NASCAR fantasy league being advertised on the employee bulletin board at work.

No clue, but I wouldn't be surprised, at least in more metropolitan areas. It'd be just about as easy to do as a NASCAR one. Everyone draws their guys/girls and gets points based on how they do. You'd just need to keep it to the more important tournaments and not go into the tiny ones that big names usually aren't in.

Heard on Mike and Mike. It is 2nd and they allow people to bet whatever they want and there are so many tournaments going on where the winner may get $500, I could see how some mobster pays them a little extra and ends up making a killing.
