...Thanksgiving travel
-
4cards...I've got about an hour drive over to Pittsburgh area tomorrow to have Thanksgiving with my daughter. How far is everyone else have to travel today or tomorrow?
-
j_crazyfirst time in years, i'm staying home for thanksgiving, we ususally go to Lafayette to have dinner with some old friends. but not this year.
-
Fab4RunnerDriving an hour and 15 minutes to my mom's tonight to help her prep. Driving to my dad's from there tomorrow, which is about 90 minutes. Driving back to my mom's tomorrow evening (another 90 minutes). We do Thanksgiving there on Friday every year.
My fiance drove from Akron to Dayton yesterday, and will drive from Dayton to Millersburg Friday morning. -
fish822:45 to Ft. Wayne for dinner with Mrs. Fish's ginormously loud family.
-
like_that3.5 hour train ride to NJ tonight. Going to spend time with the gfs parents in NJ and then we will probably go out in NYC on Saturday.
-
QuakerOats0, hosting about 20 at our house.
Happy Thanksgiving, all. -
BR1986FBNo travel for actual Thanksgiving dinner but I've been on the fence about heading down to Wheeling, WV to take my girlfriend's daughter to see the Christmas lights at Oglebay. If anyone has any experience with this, let me know. I'm not a fan of long "waits" in line to do things so if that's the case, it probably won't happen.
-
Fab4RunnerI have one sibling who constantly complains about traveling for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I don't particularly enjoy it, but spending holidays with my family is important to me, so I suck it up and do it.
Like my girl Ellen says, it's the holidays, and we're all in misery.

Uz2Bon36I'm not. If I was to travel for Turkey day, I'd head to Chicago. Unfortunately I have to work at 4AM Friday.
-
Belly35I travel from the kitchen to the dinning room to the family room and back to the kitchen for a beer...

Have done this before. It was a lot of fun. You go through the park in your car to see the lights. Stay down there overnight it is a good time nice pool and stuff for kids too.BR1986FB;1765680 wrote:No travel for actual Thanksgiving dinner but I've been on the fence about heading down to Wheeling, WV to take my girlfriend's daughter to see the Christmas lights at Oglebay. AutomatikTook the Megabus from NYC to Pittsburgh last night. It went surprisingly smooth, about 8 hours exactly.
-
SnotBubblesTomorrow I'm 15 minutes from the house. Friday morning we make an 8 hour trip to western Illinois.
-
Commander of Awesome5 hour direct flight home to Cleveland to have thanksgiving with my mom.
Direct is the key word here. I didn't buy a direct flight last yr because it was $200 more. Had a stop in Chicago and my flight got canceled. American (the worst) said they couldn't get me on another flight for 3 days. Ended up renting a car and driving the rest of the way SMH. On the way back I was delayed 8 hours in Chicago and missed my company's christmas party and missed public transportation home from the airport. $104 cab ride and walking into my apartment at 2 am later I ended up spending an additional $375 extra and wasted a shit ton of time. /QQtravelStory -

We really had no wait. Just went nice and slow and enjoyed the lights. Probably about 20 minutes start to finish and you can go through as many times as you want.BR1986FB;1765712 wrote:How long is the drive through the park and the wait? -
