Chicago Police Officer shoots 17 year old 16 times

    He's been charged with first degree murder, the first time a Chicago PO has been charged with first degree murder while on duty.

    They are releasing the video this week, it's supposed to be pretty bad.

    I can't speak for other cities, but there definitely have been rallies behind gang violence and gun deaths in Chicago. None have reached the magnitude of the #BlackLivesMatter movement, but having lived in Chicago for a few years I can confidently say I've seen plenty of rallies. There was Hadiya Pendleton who was gunned down on the southside a few years ago. Lenore Draper, who, rather ironically, was gunned down after leaving an anti-violence rally. Both of those incidents reached national attention with FLOTUS addressing the Pendleton situation and Bomani Jones going off about Draper.

    I wish the national media would focus more attention on these efforts, rather than chasing after the "White Cop/Black Kid" narrative.

    Dumb cop, dumb kid. Torn on the murder charge due to ignorance of the situation/ law. If he had killed him with 1 shot would this still be a story? This kind of reminds me of the Cleveland case where the guy got off because they said they couldn't tell which shot or who made the kill shot. If this kid would have died from the first 2 or 3 shots, does the fact he was a moron and unloaded on him while on the ground make him a "murderer"?

    Just to clarify, I think the cop is a moron and should be punished for unloading 10 or more shots while the kid is laying on the ground, and if even 1 shot would have been considered murder in this situation, then I agree with the decision to prosecute for murder.

    Didn't know people still did PCP.

    Id like to get the whole story and see the video before I make a judgment on this, but it doesn't look good on the cop. From what I'm hearing, the video is very, very bad for the cop hence the reason why the CPD were fighting so hard to not have the video released. Soon as it does though, this city is gonna freak out. Like raider said, that's the last thing we need in Chicago right now.

    Anyone who "freaks" over this is an idiot. He's been charged with murder and the court will decide his fate.

    But don't let a tragedy stop the race baiters from going out in full force.

    Its not as bad as what I was reading about it. they made it sound like the kid was walking away with his back to the cops, when it looks more like he was walking towards the cops and as he continued to walk by only a few feet away, made some erratic spin move and they shot him. From what the autopsy shows, most of the rounds hit him from the front and the ones that hit from the rear, were on his arms, which are flailing during the shots. Also, I am going on the assumption he did have knife.

    it will go to trial, but he wont be convicted. this falls somewhere in between the Ferguson shooting(no conviction) and the South Carolina shooting(most likely will be convicted).

    Glad my daughter coming home for Thanksgiving this weekend and we are going to the Browns game on Monday, she will not be in Chicago until sometime Tuesday Afternoon.

    This happened 12 months ago, with Rahm Emanual knowing of the situation ..... this need to be answered why?

    I've seen in Chicago first hand the disrespect young (all race) have for the police and the arrogant attitude demonstrated at police officers authority. This does not justify the shooting in any way but this type of behavior mentality has gone unanswered to long.

    The Black Community needs to do a attitude adjustment of their ethnicity behavior ideology, it seems that after generation this learned, taught attitude has been the creation of demise.

    Saw protestors were blocking traffic again, always a good way to get your point across and piss off everyone in the process.

    And once again, protesting something which has been handled correctly so far... Derp. It isn't a "protest" if everyone is in agreement.

    The video is damning and the cop is probably going to jail forever; however using the "he was shot x times" is irrelevant.
