Pregnancy hormones are no joke!

  • sherm03
My wife is now 25 weeks along. We have 105 days until her due date and her hormones are going nuts lately.

We got a dog 2 days before we found out she was pregnant and over the last month or so she has gone over-the-top focusing on animal issues. She wrote Kasich asking what he was going to do to shut down puppy mills in Ohio. She watches videos of these dogs that have been rescued and just cries her eyes out on the couch. And so far, she's donated to a bunch of different shelters because pregnant women aren't allowed to volunteer at them.

What's the craziest thing your wife/girlfriend did when she was pregnant?

I don't have a traditional girlfriend or wife but I am very interested in this topic. Looking forward to reading these posts; hopefully Con_Alma has a good story for us all.

Craziest thing...well, from some close friends they said the sex was awesome in the second trimester with their pregnant wives. The wives would want it all the time.

My wife...nope. Did the opposite. Drought was early and often for me -- 2 kids in 2 years. From July 2013 to July 2015 it was pretty minimal.

I'm interested to see how it will be for me when the time comes. I get virtually no symptoms when it's my monthly lady time. No moodiness, cramps, etc. etc. Pregnancy is obviously on another level, tho.

I would be in the camp where the second trimester has been great. As soon as she stopped feeling the morning sickness, she has been ready to go almost every day. And it's weird to see her go from sobbing uncontrollably at a commercial to wanting to bone in an instant. But I'm not complaining.

Straight Up..........there is nothing wrong with any of that. Kudos to your wife, and best wishes to all of you.

Thanks. I appreciate it. I guess the surprise for me is that this literally came out of nowhere. She woke up one day and was just gung-ho about animal rights. Just crazy how those hormones flipped something in her to be so passionate about it.

Weirdest thing my wife did while pregnant was she was completely obsessed with eating radishes. She would have me driving all over Oahu looking for them. She'd ask for a specific number of them. Couldn't give her more or less. It was so weird. Hasn't ate one since she had our daughter almost 4 years ago.

My wife also had morning sickness pretty much the entire pregnancy.

I'm terrified of morning sickness. Not many things I hate more than puking. I'd rather feel like shit than make myself throw up, even though I know it will make me feel better.

My mom never had a trace of morning sickness during her four pregnancies, and I'm really, really hoping it's the same for me.

My wife stabbed a guy in line at McDonalds, circa Week 26.

Only real struggles my wife had were extreme fatigue first trimester (sleeping 16-18 hours a day) and really bad heart burn.

Nothing crazy with my wife. The second trimester was real....

Ate some strange combination of foods and was a bit more likely to tear up.

You do know you have to have sex and not just BJs to get pregnant right?

When my wife was pregnant with our first son, she had been a vegetarian for a few years leading up to getting pregnant. Her problem was that she didn't like any of the typical vegetarian proteins (soy, tofu, peanut butter, etc). Her and I talked about protein shakes, supplements, etc. She tried them all, couldn't really hack any of them (pills too large to swallow, shakes made her sick, etc).

So, she started slow with like grilled chicken, turkey, etc (no red meat) and it worked well.

One day she got a craving for a McDonald's cheeseburger (and we all know, a pregnant woman with a craving has to get the food) for some odd reason.

She went through the drive through, bought just one to see how she would deal with it digestion wise.

It not only hit the spot, but made her want more. So, instead of going back to the McDonald's, she drove like 5 miles to a different McDonald's so that they wouldn't "think she was a pig" (in her own words) and ordered 3 cheeseburgers. The drive through attendant made mention about something and she said "yeah, taking these to my husband for his lunch" and he complimented her on how good of a wife she was...

Yeah, she ate all 3 (total of 4 at this point) cheeseburgers.

Best pregnancy story ever though, with her, was when she was in labor with the same one. She had been in "light" labor for awhile and they tried to speed it up with the Pitocin (sp?). This was in 2001 when the Indians were good, I was watching the game on the TV in the room and she gave me a look straight from the devil and said "I can't believe I am sitting here going through contractions and you are just watching the Indians"

Now, in my own defense, I completely did everything she asked/wanted/needed every contraction and paid no attention to the game, just did between contractions but of course I turned it off.

Ok, she gets an epidural just minutes later. Fast forward about 5 minutes after the epidural and my wife looks at me in the sweetest voice you can ever imagine a woman giving and honestly said "Honey, why aren't you watching the Indians game?"

She had completely forgot about yelling at me just minutes before with all the hormones and pain running through her.
