Do You Like Scary Movies?

  I enjoy them very much, but hardly any of my friends do. It's a real bummer.

  Easily my favorite type of movie is the horror flick. When I was younger, my initial career "choice" was to be in special effects. For a 10 year stint, we had a pretty elaborate haunted forest in our woods that I coordinated. Love em !

  I don't mind scary movies. I find most of them pretty corny, though, which is a bummer.
  
  I remember when Paranormal Activity came out, people were telling me and my wife that it was the scariest movie ever made. So we went to it pretty excited and then just laughed through the whole thing.
  
  But that corniness is part of why I like them, so I guess it's OK.
  
  Weird thing though, I can't stand haunted houses.

  I love them so much that I bought a couple of those 15-20 movie packs where you have 2-3 recognizable ones and a bunch of direct to video schlock. Last night I watched a slasher where the first 45 minutes was nothing but annoying college kids chatting (and often arguing with each other). I wasn't even happy to watch them start dying. I just wanted it to be over. Not even any tits on display. For shame, The Ridge, for shame...

  The best part is when the victim has the 400 yard head start yet Jason or Michael always catches them without breaking a sweat/walking patiently.

  Best of those was in Friday VI (which had a bodycount of 25 or so in 90 minutes, I think).
  
  You had this couple on a motorcycle who stopped for some reason and were walking. They come across Jason killing someone else (I think the gravekeeper from the cemetery where he'd been resurrected from in the beginning of the movie). They sprint back to the back. Camera alternates between them running and Jason doing his power-walk. They get on the bike. Jason appears in front of the bike and impales them both. With the head start they had combined with the pace they both were taking, that was not logically possible. I love that shit.

  And it seems like they never run in a straight line, always the "S" pattern, like a snake. Jason/Michael probably thinking "dumbass" and just walks in a straight line and finishes them. LOL

  Unfortunately, the last great slasher movie made, IMO, was Scream. The last 15 years have been crap remakes and dumb shit like watching a movie and dying...

  I saw Scream in the theater when I was in 6th grade. Our $1 theater was $.50 on Tuesdays, and I went with my 17 year old brother and his girlfriend. They didn't check IDs, and obviously I wasn't there with a parent, lol. Real classy establishment. My mom didn't even care that he took me. I was obviously scared shitless, but it remains one of my fave horror movies of all time.

  I enjoy them but sometime in the last 10 years or so they went from horror to gore. I want suspense and shit not just blood. Only few I can remember enjoying recently are Scream and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake.
  
  I also cant get into the movies that are 90 mins long with one good jump in your seat moment at the end.

  I agree, but I wonder if the older movies were better or if my tastes have matured. A lot of movies I loved as a kid do not hold up when I watch them again now

  I feel a good horror movie are few and far between. I can enjoy the genre, but don't go looking for it.
  
  Side note, I've been going back and watching the Universal Monster movies (OG 1930s Frankenstein, Invisible Man, etc...) and they're excellent. Well acted, and the cinematography is top notch. I'd give them a watch if you love older movies.
