SportsAndLadyYou don't have to apologize lol that's our point. You shouldn't take internet insults seriously or personal. It's funny. Laugh and move on.

It doesn't. We've been saying the same god damn thing since '09. You can't make everyone happy, especially regional sports forums.4cards;1762306 wrote:...This site will never grow with just the few number of posters on here trashing each other daily. The OC needs to get more people interested on posting about sports since many on here fled JJ when they started to charge to post. Yappi seems to be doing well but JJ is dead & about to be buried so there may be an opportunity to grow in this area...hope this helps. -

Frankly, I think there was kind of a "sweet spot" for sports forums like JJ's, Yappi and the OC. They had a heyday when they were very popular, people got older, and not as many people had interest in joining them after those that got older left. You have some diehards/regulars that will probably post on sites like this for the long haul but I don't think there's any magic "idea" that will draw posters to a message board.Uz2Bon36;1762329 wrote:It doesn't. I think, at least a few years ago, Yappi had the exact opposite problem JJ had. With JJ, you had cliques at the top, where mods and their favs ran the place while everyone else had to watch what they said. With Yappi, it was more hands-off, but there were user cliques where guys would take over their version of the SB board with all this inane shit (Cinci bros using it as their "what you doin' tonight?" message service) and if anything happened to their account because they did cross a line, would just switch to an alt immediately.BR1986FB;1762308 wrote:You usually don't run into the bickering on Yappi that you do here. With that being said, Yappi is an infestation of Cincinnati dicks. This site has Cincy posters, most of which are cool. Seems like everyone on Yappi has six usernames.
By the time this site started, I was pretty much only going to their Pro Sports boards. They were kind of like ours, except they separated the sports into their own forums and it was Cincy-focused instead of Cleveland. Kind of funny, though, since you had the exact same sort of multi-page arguments over players and shit that we have here. -

The funny part about over there is that the "heated" arguments I'd get into about the Browns QB situation was usually a Steeler fan telling me what they needed to do to fix it. sleeperThere is value in adding new mods however changing the nature of what a mod's responsibilities are is a long awaited change. Mods are not there to control and punish the users; their primary goal should be to facilitate discussion. We have a substantial amount of AFK mods that do little to drive discussion.
Back when I was a mod at GUA, I would regularly post and start new discussions on the topic that I moderated. No mod really does that here. The other thing we had at GUA was a "mod log" thread that moderators updated. Mods would post to it to discuss bans, promotions, demotions, etc. so that users had an idea what was going on in the forums. It provides accountability. Were people even aware that I was banned from these forums for 1 year for meme'ing LJ? LOL -

Back in the over moderation era of the OC, I pretty much said the same thing. I said they should let the mod forum be visible to all users so we could see the thought process on why a particular poster was receiving ban/infraction/etc. Instead we could receive punishments, and we wouldn't even have notification of which moderator issues the punishment. It was just by the process of elimination that it usually came down to cry 4 fail. -
sleeperI would also eliminate rep caps since they don't matter anyway. I like to use reps to give a small "kudos" to those who make a good point/post without having to respond to tell them that.
