Crystal Pepsi Coming Back?

  • IggyPride00
Most of us born before 1990 probably remember it's brief run in the early 90's, but it seems like there has been an online movement to bring it back that has caught Pepsi's eye.

On NBC news they put up a letter pepsi people wrote to the guy in charge of the online campaign that hinted strongly it was coming back.

It wouldn't surprise me given the trend of companies doing limited runs of throwback stuff.

Did anyone really like the stuff? I remember thinking it wasn't anything special, but it must have had enough of a cult following to get Pepsi to consider bringing it back after 20+ years.

Still not going to get me to drink Pepsi.

It wasnt good when it came out. Imagine people would buy out of curiosity but soon would flop.

I know I've drank it as a kid but don't really remember if it was that good or not. I'm sure if It comes back I'll pick one up to try it.

I will say the only soda that needs to come back is Surge. That stuff was the best.

Surge did come back. My brother ordered a bunch and had a 90s party just for fun. I took one drink and remembered how fucking awful it was. I don't think a single person at the party finished a full can, lol.

Never had Crystal Pepsi. Pepsi is trash.

I thought you were a decent person until now.

I for one liked it. And the only good coke is a mc Donald's coke.

Diet Pepsi is trash, Diet Coke is much better (Diet Dew or Diet 7up are far and away the best diet drinks, though). But regular Pepsi is way better than regular Coke. Coke Zero is pretty decent, though, and haven't had the Pepsi equivalent.

I can't remember Crystal Pepsi, was it supposed to be a clear cola or an actual competitor to 7up/Sprite?

Soda pop is for poor people.

Dont think it was supposed to rival 7up and sprite withthe lemon lime taste.

If it works out, this may come back as well.

    Sorry! Pepsi is sickeningly sweet.

Cherry Coke Zero, Diet Sunkist and Diet Dr. Pepper (and DDP with Cherry) are the best diet drinks, IMO. Of course I think all Mt. Dew products are the worst things ever created. And regular Pepsi is just disgusting.

    Scotlad pop...the best!

Dr. Pepper is disgusting - tastes like medicine. Cherry coke, meh, never cared for it.

Crystal Pepsi was a clear colored cola, it was not a competitor to 7UP, Sprite, etc.

I remember drinking it some, but don't remember if it was any good.

Oh, and Pepsi is too sweet? Coke is like sugar water comparatively.

Coke just leaves a nasty aftertaste

Fab is right, surge is available on Amazon. It's $12 a case right now. (with a coupon)

It will be a limited time release. Pepsi is also beginning to enter the "craft soda" market, so we'll probably need a "Pop Snob" thread.

I don't remember what it tasted like but I'll try it again.

That's what I thought. I can't really remember, but I think it tasted pretty much like the regular thing. I might be mistaken, but I believe cola's actually have coloring to give them their dark color. I would guess Crystal Pepsi failed mainly because of some mental deal where it was weird for people to taste cola flavor in a clear beverage.

This. It tasted just like normal Pepsi. You just had to get over the mental barrier of it and it was surprisingly hard. If you drank it from a can, you couldn't see it and couldn't tell a difference.

Mountain Dew did this recently. Forget what it's called. I tried it and didn't care for it. Plus it's like $3+ for a four-pack.

Edit: Dewshine is what it is.

Mt Dew recently did limited runs of Baja Blast and Sangrita Blast in 20oz bottles as well.

Anyone remember SNL's parody of Crystal Pepsi? It was Crystal Gravy.

I don't drink pop anymore, but when I did I was pretty much addicted to Mountain Dew, nearly all flavors.

Dewshine is gross though, too much of an alcohol taste to it without any alcohol.
