Booms did the show this morning. I listened to the Podcasts this morning; didn't hear anything controversial. Was there something he said this morning that was edgy?!

The replacement HAS to be Ken Carman... right?

What does this mean for the annual Kiley & Booms Spelling Bee? I know Kiley wasn't involved in this and it was Ken Carman, but Booms was the star of the Spelling Bee. Yeah Booms was an absolute moron when it came to sports analysis, but there's no denying the guy was great comedy.

I'm not sure about Carman. People need to enjoy him while they can. He's going to blow up and get snagged by some national venue. I could see him go the route of Jim Rome or someone like that. Dude is that talented.

I'm sure he got canned for some dumbass reason just like Torg when he was fired from 97.1 in Columbus.

I'm guessing he was fired because Footwedge seems to agree with him a lot, so the station probably figured he had done the unthinkable and had actually gotten too stupid for talk radio.

If FW starts posting a lot more on here I think we know who he really is.

I would listen on the way to work for the sheer comedic value of how stupid he was.

Although, I would immediately turn the station when they played that STUPID game show "Ahead or Behind". That could have been the dumbest thing on the radio.

I used to work with him back in the late 80's and have an interesting (and gross) story about him.

That can stay between you and your therapist.

    No need to involve Roethlisberger.

Was surprised to hear all of the callers "boo hooing" about Booms leaving this morning.

According to Kiley, Booms had a meeting with management regarding his "career direction" and it's unclear whether Booms resigned or was released.

    From everything I've seen/read/heard, I think it's VERY clear he was released/fired/let-go.

Podcasts will set you free from local radio.

I missed this...he must have not signed the contract that stipulated he had to service LeDouche and Manzier every day of his life.

The two biggest turds in NEO...and that's saying something.

Interesting that Kevin Kiley hasn't reached out to Booms once since Booms' untimely firing. But... as they always say, the phone works two ways. If Booms really wanted to hear from Kiley, he could pick up the phone and contact him himself.

I think Kiley addressed this one day on the radio himself. I thought he said... they never hung out or talked much outside of the show, so why would he call him unceremoniously just because he was fired? Little blunt... but also a little true.

I turned on cleveland radio today hoping to get a Kyrie Update. They were discussing the sideline reporter's outfit for the game. How in the fuck do you guys, esp you BR, listen to this bullshit. I mean, HOW?

I moved up to the area for my job about 2.5 years ago. The radio programming might be one of my least favorite things about my move. I first tried the drive time talk shows on MMS (Alan Cox and Rover). Rover is ok, but he's just a poor man's Howard Stern. You can even tell he tries so hard to have the same delivery. Alan is ok as well. But way too many times I had to just shut off the radio in frustration, because both feature female hosts who are just so ignorant and dumb. You can tell they have no knowledge of half the subjects they talk about then blurt out dumb opinions they have. So annoying.

So then I switched to the sports talk shows. I like Baskin and Phelps a lot, especially right now during the Cavs run. Bull and Fox is decent as well. But the morning show with Kiley and Booms was just bad. I actually didn't mind Booms. Yeah he was biased and didn't have the best reasons or opinions, but he made up for it because he was funny. Kiley on the other hand; god I can't stand him. I call him "condescending" Kiley. We could win the game by 20 points and yet he will still find some minor non-issue with the team and spend the whole time just ramming it down everyone's throat; cutting people off when they disagree with it or call him out. You can just tell he's an east coaster. And then the worst part of the sports radio up here, they spend at least 80% of the air time talking about the fucking Browns. I'm not a browns fan at all. Only OSU football for me. It's not as bad right now because the Cavs are doing so well. But once the playoffs are over I will stop listening because I don't give a shit about the new backup long snapper, or which third string QB is beating Johnny out for the starting job. Seriously, there is a very good football team just 2 hours south that an unbelievable season winning the NC, and throughout most of the fall, they would spend a few minutes and just touch base on OSU football, and then get right back to Hoyer vs. Johnny Shithead for another hour.

And there's the end of my rant lol.

I would go with bull and fox being the only talk show that is worth listening too. Basking and phelps suck (haven't listened in a few months tho) but at least booms kept things interesting.

No. Ken Carman is EASILY the best thing going in Cleveland sports talk. He's head and shoulders above anything in town. I doubt he'll be here much longer as I could see him getting snapped up by a national show.

Ken Carman is really good. I hope he stays. I think he will, as long as CBS Cleveland pays him. He's loves the city, loves the Browns, etc. All CBS Cleveland has to do is pay the man.

I personally think Bull & Fox are pretty good. Foxy sometimes shows his ignorance, but Bull is pretty spot-on.

As for Kiley & Booms... I actually enjoyed them for what they were - Booms brought the humor and little sports knowledge, and I think Kiley actually was the voice of reason on the show. I thought it was a good mix. They kept things fresh.

As for the Ohio State stuff... I'm as big of a Buckeye fan as there is, but let's face it... this is a CLEVELAND sports radio show... not a COLUMBUS sports radio show. I have no problem with them discussing little on the Buckeyes. It's nice when they do, but I don't tune into CLEVELAND sports radio to hear about the Buckeys. I tune in to hear about the Browns, Cavs, and occasionally the Indians.
