Your Worst Vacation

Ironman92Myrtle Beach....rained out two of the days. Stupid traffic, hotel was sandy.
Won't go back...only thing that came out of it was during 1 of the rainy days we listened to a time share and got a free 3 day vacation + $50 coupon for eating in Gatlinburg at a very nice resort just 2 blocks off the midway. -
gerb131Never really had a bad one. Although back in 96 we were supposed to charter a deep sea fishing boat but my dickhead dad cancelled it because he found some pot in my suitcase.

What did you expect? The Myrtle Beach strip is a shit hole.Ironman92;1707329 wrote:Myrtle Beach.... hotel was sandy. -
AutomatikI'm also going with Myrtle.
My parents had a timeshare there since late 80s, right on the strip. It was awesome as a kid, but holy fuck did it go to hell. I went 2 years ago with a big family group. That was my last time. Fuck that place...total shithole. North Myrtle is OK....but still really worth it when you consider other options. -
se-alumI wouldn't call it bad, but the worst was definitely Corova Beach on the Outer Banks. We thought it would be cool to have to drive up and down the beach to get to our beach house, but it was cool about one time. Took about 35 minutes to travel the 9 miles between Corolla and our house. Had to get out and push several times in deep sand. The house was awesome, but it was too much of a pain in the ass, and there isn't much to do once you get to Corolla. Not to mention having to watch the tide charts to travel.

Fab4RunnerI haven't had any terrible vacations.
My first ever vacation with my dad was cut short. My stepmom's brother lives in Tampa, so we were visiting and staying with them for a week. We went to the beach and Universal the first few days we were there, which was a blast. Unfortunately, there was a family emergency back up in Ohio, so we had to leave a few days early. We still had a great time, though. -
OSHI can't remember having any bad vacations. Always make the best of any situation and enjoy traveling to see other parts of the country/world.

4cards...I've never had a bad vacation but the best vacation was with my son & we went to Pinehurst. NC for a week to play golf. All the places we played at, ate at, as well as the hotel we stayed at were excellent & hope to do it again with him once he graduates from college.
I've never been to Sarasota, FL but I'm leaving Friday with the wife for a week. Anyone ever been there & is there anything special to do there other than warm up after this fucking winter? -
raiderbuckMy first and only time in Miami. I went without my (at the time) significant other. She threw a bitch fit, so I spent the entire time arguing with her on the phone.

My boyfriend is going to Orlando to golf with friends next week, and I am pumped. I get the house all to myself, and I can do whatever I want. He's judgy when I want to spend all day in sweats, drinking champagne and binge-watching TV. -

Pinehurst is awesome. I wouldn't mind living there someday. I've got some family friends there and visit whenever I travel the coast.4cards;1707584 wrote:...I've never had a bad vacation but the best vacation was with my son & we went to Pinehurst. saltoSpring break in college was memorable. Clear water was a blast but the fun began on the way back to Michigan.
Got stuck in a blizzard North of Atlanta. A bunch of us spent a night on the highway, then had some luck getting a hotel room at the Holiday Inn. I discovered a keg in the restaurant which was quickly reconnected and celebrated my buddies 21st b-day with free beer. Later we spent the evening with a couple chicks from Miami of Ohio. -

Sarasota has a lot to offer it just depends what you like to do. Siesta beach is a must but you have to get there early morning to claim a parking spot, around 8:30 to 9:00 you shouldn't have a problem. I've lived in the Sarasota area for 22 years and my wife was born and raised here (41 years). I could give you better ideas if I knew things you would be interested in doing.4cards;1707584 wrote:

I just grew up always hearing about everyone going to MB.....never heard anything negative. It wasn't a terrible vacation but it was the worst of those that I have had.iclfan2;1707640 wrote:Lol chill out. I meant sand gets all over the place cuz people don't give a shit.

I hate having to drive everywhere on vacation. -
friendfromlowryNot necessarily a bad vacation, but it was a pain in the ass. Went to Canada last summer for a cousin's wedding. They had the rehearsal dinner and ceremony in Canada directly across from Buffalo, but the reception was back in America in Buffalo. A wedding essentially in two different countries. Fortunately there wasn't a wait getting back into America. I've sat in lines at the border for nearly an hour before.
Plus that area in Canada when you get off the Peace bridge is kinda dead. We stopped at Wal Mart once there and it was getting ready to close...at 10pm. Wtf? -
Pick6I've never been on a bad vacation. My roommate had a pretty shitty one last summer. He went with his girlfriend, his buddy, and his buddy's girlfriend. About 100 miles from Myrtle beach, his idiot buddy pulled out in front of a truck going 60mph and the truck crushed the front end and totaled the car. If he pulled out a half a second earlier they would have been dead. So they had to call a taxi to get to the beach. And once they got there they had no car and had to get a taxi to go everywhere which i guess was a pain. He fought with his girl the whole time and while he was out golfing she decided to go and get a tattoo on her ass. They had to rent a car to drive back. The vacation was stressful with all the fighting and all the extra money spent. His girl lives in Columbus and we live in Akron area. The vacation was the last time he ever saw her lol.

sportchamppsSpring Break Panama City during college. Our room flooded like 6 hours into the trip. They came and cleaned the room while we went out to eat. The next day same thing happens. We're talking like 6-8 inches of water in the whole room. They hotel manager comes with the repair guy. We wanted a new room but they were more worried about trying to find some weed in our room. They told us multiple times we will call the cops if you don't just give us the weed now. First our room only had less then an 1/8 of weed in it and we could have just said it was there before we got there. They just wanted to steal some college kids weed. One girl on the trip finally called her dad who was a lawyer and he faxed them a letter on his attorney letterhead and we were promptly moved ten minutes later to a new room.
Then on on top of that I had a girlfriend back at college and another girl in the room that was making it almost impossible to avoid hooking up with. I broke up with my girlfriend at home because I knew I wouldn't be able to not cheat. I hooked up with the girl on the trip and we ended up staying in my bed almost every night. She wanted a relationship and to act like we were together while I just wanted to have fun on spring break. She didn't want to let me ever go out alone she had to tag along. I ended up avoiding the relationship and going back to the girl I was with before the trip.
funny part is ... Three weeks later I broke up with the girl again and started dating the girl from spring break and however many years later were married. So it was shitty at the time but ended up ok. -

...I saw that you can take a kayac for a couple of hours and paddle through the Mangrove tunnels which sounds fun & we may take in some spring training action up in Bradenton but other than that I just want to veg out on the beach & warm up.Bio-Hazzzzard;1707628 wrote:Sarasota has a lot to offer it just depends what you like to do.
