Bruce Jenner to become a woman

I'm pretty sure she said she played dressup as a kid in the 50s/60s. As far as publicity goes, I find it funny that 1. Kris Jenner never makes a comment on it, like she wants nothing to do with it. 2. Kim Kardashian announced she's pregnant on the same day. If you want to question someone's motives for publicity, do that.Fab4Runner;1732051 wrote:So you think Bruce Jenner decided to become a woman just for publicity? That is the only reason?
What about the time she began transitioning in the 80s? No one but close family even knew about it. -

Of course you can bring up the question. But if people really believe that she transitioned solely for publicity, I really don't know what to say. She has been dealing with gender dysphoria since her childhood, and even began transitioning in the 80s. Was that for publicity, too?raiderbuck;1732049 wrote:Is it? I mean...are people wrong for at least questioning the motives?
For one...it's the Kardashians. The whole family is famous for being socialites. They're also on the E! Network, a network that airs shows like Fashion Police. A show who's entire premise is based on judging people's clothes. It's also a network that thrives on vanity.
I'm just playing the devil's advocate here. I couldn't care less about Bruce Jenner's transition, but you could at least bring up the question.
As far as the docu-series, I think it will be very educational for some, and will bring visibility to a subject that many people struggle with on a daily basis. -
SportsAndLadyThis whole thing annoys me because I don't give a shit. As long as you aren't raping people, kiddie molesting, or doing your own family, I don't really give a fuck what your sexual preference is. You can be gay, straight, trans, bi...I really couldn't care less and none of it bothers me.
What bothers me is the constant thrashing of the topic down America's throat. Jamming in on me so that if I don't say "yes, Jenner is so courageous!" I'm the bad guy. I'm the bad guy because someone's sexual orientation means jack shit to me.
And then there's the other side of "this American troop lost his leg in towel head land, and ran a 10k, and we are giving the Arthur Ashe award to a tranny!" Those fucking Facebook posts are the worst. If you can't see the difference in the two and how, for some people, each example can be courageous and a great story for some, then I don't know what to tell you.
There's no middle ground. Shit, even the middle ground makes me into a bad guy.

Not what I meant. I'm sure he's been struggling with this for years but as it's been said, the Kardashian/Jenner family isn't shy about their "need" to be in the spotlight. Keep the shit to yourself (as much as possible) and go on with your life.Fab4Runner;1732045 wrote:Do people really think that someone would transition just for publicity? That is so asinine. Great, you want to be a woman. Do it.....I, for one, just don't want it being shoved in my face 24/7. It's one thing if he makes this change and goes about his/her life as privately as someone like him/her could but it's another to be granting all of these interviews, etc. -

ESPN giving a "courage" award to a tranny just tarnished every other "courage" award ever given to anyone for anything. -

Don't think the opportunity to cash in was there in the 80s. Money and publicity is a huge factor in all of this. If it weren't, he would've done it a long time ago.Fab4Runner;1732051 wrote:So you think Bruce Jenner decided to become a woman just for publicity? That is the only reason?

IggyPride00Everyone will be made to care whether they like it or not. It is the mission statement of the entire militant LGBT movement.
The world has flipped upside down when the "normal" position is that a 65 year old dude running around in a corset with a teenage girls name is suddenly OK and "courageous". -

I don't think it's that simple. She met and fell in love with someone and wanted to build a life and family with her. She also had her children to think about. Young kids are resilient, but I have a hard time believing they would have understood and/or been supportive of her transition.Raw Dawgin' it;1732067 wrote:Don't think the opportunity to cash in was there in the 80s. It doesn't appear he was too worried about children if you know you want to be a woman and keep lying to your wife and having more kids.Fab4Runner;1732069 wrote:I don't think it's that simple. One other thing that is confusing me is how I keep reading how important this for all the people struggling with gender identity. How many people could this possibly affect? 1/1,000,000? Not saying it doesn't matter, but the coverage/impact ratio seems way out of whack. -

Honestly for me, and for probably a lot of people, it's the fact that it's the Kardashians and their ever need for attention. On the flip side you have Laverne Cox. She's a talented actress that has gotten publicity, but it's nowhere near the level of Caitlyn Jenner. I'm happy that someone gets to live their truth and be comfortable, but for Pete's sake, stfu about it already (media).Fab4Runner;1732055 wrote:Of course you can bring up the question. This country has much worse things to worry about than some dude who wants to be a woman.IggyPride00;1732068 wrote:Everyone will be made to care whether they like it or not. It is the mission statement of the entire militant LGBT movement.

This article should be everywhere. I truly believe this is a mental disorder that the liberal left has twisted into some BS about expressing one's true self. It's a liberal wet dream and a joke.

This is not entirely accurate.Fab4Runner;1723298 wrote:The America where someone else's decision to become a woman has absolutely no negative effect on their life whatsoever?
While I don't care what Bruce Jenner does with his life, to say that this issue doesn't affect anyone else besides the transgender person themselves is naïve.
Let's say I have a 14 year old daughter just starting in HS. There is a 18 year old senior boy that decides he is now transgender and due to the fact that our society doesn't want to offend ANYONE, he is allowed to go to the bathroom with my daughter.
I am sorry, but I have a problem with that, and that absolutely does affect me.
That hypothetical is happening today, due to the fact that we don't want to offend those that are transgender by telling them they have to go to the bathroom that they have the 'parts' for. -

I think it was a combination of publicity(90%) and the constant validation in the media that it's okay to be your "true self"(10%). However, considering the suicide rate is 20 times higher in transgender individuals and 80% of those who undergo transgender surgery end up suffering depression as a result, why should we be celebrating this as any other than a mental disorder gone wrong with liberal expression disease? It's almost like people want to encourage abnormal behavior so they can skewer the rational people for saying it's "not normal".Fab4Runner;1732051 wrote:So you think Bruce Jenner decided to become a woman just for publicity? Sick world we live in. Sorry, but the reality is Bruce did this for publicity and validation of his DISEASE as "normal". Poor guy; he'll commit suicide in a year or at a convenient time when the Kardashians become irrelevant. -

I mean I kid, but I agree. This whole "everything is normal, it doesn't affect you" trend is being abused heavily. Currently, bestiality is considered abnormal but it won't be long until some famous person decides to start banging cows and when criticized he will simply state "It's my life and it doesn't affect you!!@@1". -

Why do we have separate bathrooms for men and women? Separate but equal was abolished in the 60's; it's time we all use the same bathroom.Zoltan;1732092 wrote:Why do you have a problem with that?
