Added poundage

  In the winter I put around 400 pounds of salt bags in a large container just in front of my rear wheels of my truck.
  For those of you who have a truck what do you do, if any thing to help with additional traction?

  Love all the 4wd drive people acting like they are so smart when they live a suburb. This is Ohio, there are about 20 hours in the entire year were it is actually beneficial to have a 4wd vehicle over a regular car. Roads get plowed quickly, and it doesn't even snow that much.

  in my life time I have owned many 4 wheel drive vehicles this spans 49 years of driving in all areas of Ohio from living in Canton, Perrysburge, Cleveland and Chardon... In that period of time I have used the option of 4 wheel drive maybe 10 times just a stand driving not to pull anyone out of problems. Even with 4 wheel drive additional weight makes for better traction and standard driving function. I now have a two wheel drive truck w/ dual cab I have not problem as long as I drive with common sense. In northern Ohio over the past 10 years the idea of long term deep snow is minimal and 4 wheel on ice is worthless.
  
  Will i I buy a 4 wheel truck again ... Maybe but only for heavy duty usage.

  Don't live in a suburb, i'm still smart, yes I know this is Ohio, our roads do not get plowed quickly, I own two Jeeps that we use the 4wd more than 20 hrs a year.

  You use it because you paid for it, not because you need it. Heck, I lived in Minneapolis for four years and didn't need 4wd at all.

  The twin cities do a hell of a lot better job clearing the street too. Same thing with Chicago.
  
  It's all about location. If you lived in rural Minnesota those four years and had to leave for work around 3AM, I bet you'd feel differently.
