What originally brought you to the OC?

No idea when I started on the huddle...but it was a long, long time ago.

When all the shit went down and people spammed that site with all sorts of pictures and such was an epic meltdown!

I joined JJ during Mooney's playoff run in '99. I was a freshman in HS. I forget what my name was back then but it ended up being deactivated from non-use. I rejoined in '02, paid the $10 fee. Back when they went to $12, I got a message about free huddle.com.

Man, that collapse of JJ's was an epic shitshow. They banned IP addresses left and right for even questioning their reasoning or decisions. I still have this on my computer:

I think that was from the day everyone was getting banned all over the place. I laughed about that so hard.

I always heard about JJ, then when I started working for a school, I started reading stuff on Hi skoo footbaw, and I later joined to post about that. It took me a while to find the S&E forum. Luckily I did before the demise.

What brought me to the OC? The $.
A single dollar sign seems fitting.

    yeah, epic shitstorm!
The amount of nudity on the site at that time was amazing!@

I chuckled a few years after that "shitstorm" (I didn't see it) when JJ's sent me a "we're free! we want you back!" e-mail to my Yahoo account.

The week after they went pay to post, and the masses revolted and left, etc was one of the best times as far as online forums go. The late night threads on here were awesome. Really though, the 1st day when they were going nuts with their Nazi shit and then trying to rationalize was amazing.

I think it was the "boobs" thread.

So it was about NCF, Iggy and Footwedge?

Joined to talk Soccer in 2005/2006 when my team was winning states ;). Came when I got a freehuddle.com PM. was a mod over there too, AR12384.

I actually didn't know this site (freehuddle at the time) existed until Wes Mantooth told me on Facebook. I still didn't sign up here immediately.

...the flame outs over there at that time were epic.
I saw one post before it was deleted showing picture of a dude with JJ's face getting fucked in the ass by some other dude with Frantz's face. Priceless!

Actually I think I joined here because you could never find coverage of 7th Grade Girls Basketball. NCF does not disappoint.

Well that obviously is the 1th reason we all joined.

Got in a fight in a high school basketball game, and some of the parents were talking shit on JJ. So I registered to talk shit back to them. True story.

And of course I posted a bunch of dick pics (not mine) on JJ after FreeHuddle went live.

    i bet he was pissed.

I wonder how many people first signed up to counteract something that someone else was talking about. I cannot even recall why I started...friends got me interested so went to the huddle and a more local one, themaconline.com, to talk more local stuff. That site has since become reduced to nothing the last couple of years. Used to be a pretty good source of info for the league, but NOT affiliated officially with it, but the creator just couldnt keep up with the demands and just let it become a message board only. When it started the AD's at the schools had moderating powers (along with some other people) to help keep it clean. The AD's got out of it after it become more of a bitchfest.

    True story.

Ah the memories. The first week or two of this site's existence was the best time I ever had on a message board. Just imagining the faces of JJ and his crew over there when the shit pics flooded their site still brings a smile to this day.
  • thavoice
and let's not forget about the certified letter justin received about the site name....
  • Mooney44Cards
I remember being less pissed about the $12/year and more pissed that they were trying to pawn that shitty ass rag of a magazine off on us.

How the fuck clueless can you be about the 21st century to alienate your online consumers in the name of print media? Talk about absolutely no business sense.
  • thavoice
I never did have to pay, butwhat the BS thing was when they started to charge, and you could buy a lifetime subscription or whatever, and then the new owners took over and said that wasnt transferrable...that was total BS

The OC didn't bring me, I brought the OC

Reality is I never liked the old site; mostly I was just a huge troll over there for a bunch of old fats. I got banned many times, came back, got banned. Rinse and repeat.

It's really no different here except I don't have to pay to be here and Justin got rid of C4F; the worst mod in internet history.
