The Value of Human Life

  • ernest_t_bass
Today we laid to rest my father-in-law at the young age of 67. He struggled with emphysema for years, and pneumonia the past 3 winters. This winter he just couldn't fight it. We let him go in peace, doped up on morphine, so he felt no pain. In my 33.5 years of life, I have been fortunate to have never lost anyone close to me... until now. This has been one of the toughest things I've ever gone through, and to see my wife and her brothers go through this has been heartbreaking. Going through this has opened my eyes to just how valuable human life is, and to cherish and love those around you, and never take for granted any opportunity to spend time with the ones you love.

67 years old WOW that hit home
I hope you had time to spend with him to learn about his times, appreciate his past and gain knowledge of what is gone. At 33.5 years old you’re halfway there, your times and past will be knowledge for someone else ….
Want to have a beer …. I’m buying

My wife's side of the family is about as close as family's can come. Loved my FIL very much, and knew him well. I will be refereeing in Canton in March. You can buy me a beer then... but AFTER the game! :)

Sorry to hear. Haven't dealt with death real close in a long time. Assume that will change anytime.

Fwiw- heard the other day that the government values each life at 9 mil.

So sorry to hear ETB. Thoughts are with your family.

Yesterday my aunt (mom's twin sister) passed away unexpectedly of a stomach aneurism....only 56. It's so hard dealing with everything that goes with it.
