Healthy Food Recipes

    I'm a pretty picky eater and quite frankly, the few things I eat that are good for me are getting kinda old. What's some of the OC's favorite healthier things to eat? Any good recipes that are good for ya?

    I sometimes will cut up chicken sausage or other random protein, fry it up and throw it in.

    I guess the first question is, what DO you eat? There's quite a few people on here who might be able to help you out, but not without knowing what you do and don't eat first.

    Precisely. Plus, with the title "healthy" food recipes, it would be nice to know what you are striving for (weight loss, athletic performance, just eating "healthy" food in general, etc).

    Skinnytaste.com is awesome. Lots of healthy recipes on there and I'm sure you can find plenty of recipes up your alley.

    Also fitnmencook has creative healthy recipes that you probably haven't thought of.

    Figured I'd just start the thread so anyone can use it. Not gearing it towards just my tastes. I'll try anything once. If I like it, I like it, if I don't, I don't.

    I'm personally eating better for weight loss.

    I haven't tracked calories in a while. It should be easy though. Just scan whatever rice brand you use and the rest can be figured in.

    That's why Fitmencook is great. He posts macros for every recipe.

    Yeah I am just being lazy and hoped you already did lol.

    Yeah, that's another reason I like fmt. Skinny taste has the macros as well.

    I love beans, but found out that baked and refried or even peas, are not good carb-wise, but cut green beans are.

    I was into buying those ready to eat bags of lettuce, but found they go bad too quickly. I now buy just a head of lettuce, cut a quarter wedge of it and add whatever to eat for a nice healthy lunch (tuna or a little lunch meat, carrots, celery, peppers, cucumbers, olives, cheese ......any combo of these and easy on the dressings).

    I'm 30 pounds lighter, sugar controlled, blood pressure great, cholesterol fine and I'm healthier than I've been in 8 years. Want to lose another 10 pounds slowly..
    Simple solution: START OFF SLOW… one less piece of bread, ones less pop this week, cut back on pasta, potatoes slowly, no trips to fast food places, cook with Coconut oil and a little less portions per meal. Avoid snack at night …. Or less snacks .. eat more nuts and fruit…
    I eat everything that I enjoy and like but in moderation (self control)
    I’ve been able to cut back so much that the wife and I share our meal when we go out for dinner… It may cost us a few bucks to get extra side orders but still cheaper than two full meals.
    Simple every day exercise like walking more, working in the yard, cleaning up the garages simple physical jobs around the house helps in losing the weight and being healthy. Sweating is not a bad thing…

    Slow and steady, less and moderation, do more work to improve your living condition and your heath.

    I have been killing some clemintines lately for snacks and light breakfast/lunches.

    Yeah, wtf....this isn't a hard concept.

    I'm trying to figure out a way to "meal prep" sweet potatoes. I've heard cubing them up, boiling, then heating later does the trick. I need to look more into it.

    I love sweet potatoes, but they can take a while to cook and I would rather just make a lot for later. I'm not looking to make 15 cute tupperware meals and take a pic of them for IG, just a quick way to eat at lunch and not be disgusting.

    Not necessarily what GoChiefs is looking for but I thought I'd throw out an oldie but a goodie.....

    I've eaten a whole one of these as a postworkout meal after a 16+ hour fast. I use cream cheese instead of cottage cheese. As you can see, a whole one is just over 700 calories plus....

    Cube them, drizzle either olive oil or coconut oil on them, add cinnamon. and cook in oven at 450. Trader joes sells sweet potatoes pre cubed.

    I've used the pumpkin along with unsweetened canned cherries & blueberries. Su-freakin-perb!
