Uber pickup at airport?
-
Pick6Flying to LA tomorrow and need a ride to USC (going to the game). Anyways, it seems Uber X cars (cheapest and much cheaper than a cab) are not allowed to pick up from airports. Anyone have experience with Uber? Is there a workaround? Do the drivers not care about that law? Pretty damn annoying honestly.

Laley23I've had them drop me off, never pick me up. That seems odd. Unless the Cabs have a deal with airports (which they might since it is a flat rate to/from for almost all cabs).
Is it an LAX thing, cause I haven't heard this about RDU. -
Pick6Maybe its a California thing.

Anyways, kind of a hassle, but I think I might have found a workaround. Ride the free shuttle from the airport to parking/hotel and have Uber pick me up there. -
like_thatUber drivers aren't allowed to pick up at the airport in DC either. Most airports have deals with the cab companies.

sportchamppsTake a cab from the closest hotel. Then have uber pick you up there for the rest of the trip.

ernest_t_bassGotta love restricted capitalism.

It's been a hot topic in Chicago for a few years. Cab companies pay to be able to pick up riders from the airports. Uber doesn't want to be labeled as a "cab company" so they won't have to pay for the airport permits and insurance coverage. Best bet is to take a free shuttle to a hotel and then take Uber (like suggested). -
mucalum49I've gotten picked up from the airport by Uber. The guy called me and asked what door I was standing outside of, plus I knew the model/plate number so I could spot him as he got close. No issue really, just have to talk him through it or call if they don't. Worth the savings though. A cab from where I live to the airport is a flat $25, Uber was $15.

What you do is... You walk a little ways away from the airport and then pull up your Uber and hail an Uber X car. They are all buzzing around the airports.Pick6;1673852 wrote:Flying to LA tomorrow and need a ride to USC (going to the game). Commander of AwesomeThis was a pathetic excuse for a look at me thread.
Continue to tell us how much money you're making, but can't afford a cab. Nice fail pick6. -
Pick6Lol @ COA being a little bitch boy as usual.
thanks for the tips guys. Took a free shuttle to the Westin. Uber guy was there in two minutes, and the ride was only $22 to USC. Better than a cab in every way imaginable. -
