  That's not going to be enough to stop a school shooting. Someone wanting to do something like this could figure out a way to get their weapon(s) of choice into the building another way.

  Or they just shoot kids in the parking lot or on the bus or just outside the school. There has to be some kind of cultural change in America that we just aren't going to accept this shit. A good place to start would be being able to prosecute parents / guardians of shooters whether they off themselves or not. And I mean extreme hard "wipe them financially out" kind of federal prosecution. A few of those and it would start to grab some idiot parents attention and make them more aware of what the dark, sullen, argumentative, Goth little shit living unnder their roof is up to.

  Kid was Native American and an accomplished hunter - saw pics of him with elk he'd killed. Parents are well known and affluent in the community. Bring them to their knees and start setting examples.

  Sheriff said the little shit invited the 5 people he shot to lunch and then showed up at the table and pulled out a .40cal. These kinds of shootings have to become Fed Offenses and whoever was this POS legal guardians need to do serious time. Will it stop this crap? Probably not...but somebody is aware these kinds of kids are fucked up and capable of pulling something like this and if people thought they might be held responsible for what their kids might do, they'd start keeping better tabs on them...or hopefully the damn kid just wipes them out and not innocent kids at school.

  After I started this thread, I found out a person from my hometown and high school, had a kid that attends this school. Knew the former schoolmate lived in Wash. but never thought about a connection. Makes this type of BS hit home a little more

  Had that happen with the Sandy Hook shooting. I have a friend and occasional business partner whose son goes there. Fortunately, he wasn't injured.
  
  Quite frankly, I don't think this can be stopped by means of preventative measures. Metal detectors won't ultimately solve the problem, as there will be alternative means for getting weapons in the building. If you're not going alone, you can have someone go in clean, open a bathroom window (or any window to which they have access), and get the guns in that way.
  
  Or hell, maybe people will simply walk in after getting their hands on explosives, most of which won't set off a metal detector unless encased in metal.

  Around the same time Columbine happened, there was a shooting in Arkansas where there were two kids, one went in the building pulled the fire alarm and the other was outside picking kids off as they came outside.

  the two killed 5 people and wounded ten they both got out of jail at 21, both tried to get guns after they got out. One is today is in prison, the other is out.
