Officers should no longer attempt to seek out those with warrants.
If an officer asks for my ID, I give it to them, they run it, and let me go on my merry way.

Wanda be lawyer, who looking for a law suit to fulfill his obligation as a father of a women he’s not married to but has a kid with….
Cop ask for an ID and to get out of the car, get out of the car with the ID in hand and hand it to the officer … nothing to hide not a problem…

If you don’t want to be profiled then start by not acting like the profile.

I don't know what people expect cops to do. If a person matches the description of a person with warrants, why would they not want to see ID? And if you refuse, are they supposed to just say "ok, have a nice day. carry on"? The guy acted guilty as hell by doing what he did, which just compounded the situation.

Show your ID, they see that it's not the person with warrants, and they'll move on.

And, is running a dog around the perimeter of the car considered a search? I didn't think it was. If the dog hits on something, then that is probably cause to do an actual search.

I could be totally wrong, but I thought that's how it worked.

If you don't agree with how a cop conducts a situation you don't argue on the scene (if the officer allows it, he is not following his training). You comply and seek legal assistance later.

I kinda had that recently in a different situation. Stepdaughter car was missing (had been car towed) in an area we knew not much about. Contacted a cop such as the local tow companies so we could call and ask before taking it to the next step. She was an absolute bitch, confrontational and accusatory. (ironic this happened in UPPER Sandusky.....not hear Sandusky but kinda funny I guess). Asked for ID, which was fine, and tried to accuse me/us asking if we were sure we didnt get pulled over for a DUI or something and then it got towed. When I told her what had happened (she met with friends to go to a concert) she questioned that story as this town wasnt close to being in the middle for the people to meet, etc etc etc.

She of course ran me through the system and such and was just a complete bitch with all the accusations so I can see how someone would get a bit defensive but man, ya just gotta grin and bear it,

No. I did it all by myself. It had to be the most frustrated I have been towards a cop in her accusatory nature and tone. I didnt like getting interrogated and treated like a criminal just because our car was missing. I wanted to say something but just did what I was told!

I find it funny that the ones that complain about government overreach are the ones that say "if you don't have anything to hide just give your ID and then be on your way."

I'm not saying the people in the car were right. I admittedly don't know what the law is on whether or not the search was legal or if the cops overstepped their bounds. But it is just funny to me that people will pick and choose when it's OK for government and government employees to overreach.

Not its not a search. and as long as the dog gets there in a reasonable amount of time its not an issue. the cops cant make them wait hours for example for a dog to show up.

I take any chance I get to fuck with cops. Most of them aren't the most intelligent breed, so it's pretty easy.

Did some research on this to find out who was right or wrong in this scenario.

When it comes to the drug dog, the police are allowed to use a drug sniffing dog as long as they are able to get the dog to the stop in a "reasonable" amount of time. They can't detain you for no reason to wait for the dog to get there. But if the dog can get to the scene in the time it takes for the cop to run you through the system, the search is legal. So the guy claiming that the cop can't have the dog go around the car is completely false. However, I do think the cops may have trumped up the "you look like someone with warrants" in order to buy themselves some more time for the dog to get there. At that point though, the guy and girl can only say they don't consent to any searches and then deal with it in court.

Bottom line, there's probably some fault on both sides in this.

You once started a thread bragging about messing with a cop who pulled you over for not having a front license plate.

depending on how big of an area the cop works, its not hard to run into the same people over and over again and knowing who usually has warrants.
