Consider Orrville!! Small town, brand new schools, and good athletic tradition!NDC Falcons;1654492 wrote:Looking to relocate to the greater Akron area. Actually found a house we like in Norton. Any good advice for people moving there ? Should be a nice change of scenery from the Toledo area.
Any pointers are greatly appreciated. Thanks ! -

Belly isn't lying, if you are working in Mogadore, Uniontown/Hartville is a VERY nice area to live and the Lake schools are really good.Belly35;1654551 wrote:If your work is in Mogadore ... Norton is west across Akron and in the morning and after work its a nightmare
I would suggest if you like small town feeling, good school and safe area but an eazy drive to Mogadore
Mogadore is nice but Hartville is very nice, school system is geat, area has lots to offer and good place to have a family.
It is a little farther away from "things" to do and more expensive to live than Mogadore, but the schools are better. -
namod65I moved to the Montrose/Fairlawn area about 2 years ago from Columbus. Its a nice area and good place for families. But Columbus is way better and it's not close. If I didn't have major reasons to stay up here (job/gf). I'd definitely be back in Columbus; there's just way more to do. Although it's probably an improvement from Toledo though.

I second orrville. If your kid is any good at football, you'll have a job offer in Massillon.Old Rider;1654675 wrote:Consider Orrville!! Small town, brand new schools, and good athletic tradition! -
HitsRusOrrville would be about a 45 minutes drive to Mogadore on a good day....I could think of a lot of places better that are closer.
yeah, but then you'd have to live thereI second orrville. If your kid is any good at football, you'll have a job offer in Massillon -
Pick6big fan of Mogadore. Small school football power and the reservoir is nice to fish in. The small town feeling reminds me of home and its like 10 minutes from downtown Akron.

sportchamppsBrother in law works for Goodyear he just relocated from Nashville back to the home office. They bought a home in Macedonia but Nordonia schools.

Wildcat24Originally from Mogadore here. Great town for all the reasons jmog mentioned. If I were to ever move back to the area, I'd try to live in either Mogadore or Hartville.

TiernanYou poor bastard. Are you being forced by gunpoint or blackmailed in some way?

arnie palmerI lived in Green for 10 years before I moved to North Carolina in 2012 and my family really enjoyed living there. It was close to lots of shopping and restaurants, but still has a smaller town feel.
For a job in Mogadore, I would agree that Hartville/Uniontown/Green would be a perfect area to live in. Added plus is that Hartville/Uniontown is Stark county with lower taxes. -

Please Tiernan, tell us all about how you don't like NE Ohio. We didn't hear it clearly the first 1,500 times.
The ironic thing is you live in Ohio. It ain't like you're posting from Paris all about how life sucks in the rust belt. You're posting from a former cornfield east of Columbus right down the road. -

So far our 8th grader has zero interest in following in big brother's footsteps. I'm kind of hoping a change of schools will cure that. It is nice however not having a dog in the fight on Friday nights. Leaves us many options to visit different games.ZWICK 4 PREZ;1654681 wrote:I second orrville. And it still didn't result in a state championship for the Tigers in any of those instances. I'm sure the Tigers would have done better with Troy Smith...the Buckeyes sure did!ZWICK 4 PREZ;1654681 wrote:I second orrville. If your kid is any good at football, you'll have a job offer in Massillon. -

O-TrapJust don't move to North Hill/Elizabeth Park/Cascade Valley.

Columbus has that "everyone from there is a huge asshole" thing that takes away from it thoughnamod65;1654679 wrote:I moved to the Montrose/Fairlawn area about 2 years ago from Columbus. namod65No it doesn't. I've lived in both areas so I have some perspective. It's not like I was being outrageous in saying Akron is a more boring place than Columbus.

Pick6What can you do in Columbus that you can't do in Akron/Cleveland?

1. Have a job that doesn't require punching a time clock and carrying your lunch in a pail.Pick6;1656417 wrote:What can you do in Columbus that you can't do in Akron/Cleveland?
