Layoff day at work...

  • raiderbuck
My fiancee works in journalism. So yea...her company has been laying people off left and right. Thankfully, she's got some interviews lined up for work at more stable companies. But yea, I've had a few sleepless nights wondering how the eff we'd survive in this city on my income alone.

Things are a little messed up right now. My wife's job is somewhat secure, but it is an ongoing process, we don't know what we'd do if she got the axe. I pull my weight, but not enough to pay our mortgage, or cars.

Yea, I make enough to pay the rent, and we've got enough saved to cover monthly expenses. It's just the thought of it all being on me kinda freaks me out. My fiancee is young, but she's put in a lot of time and energy into her work and I hate to see it go to waste because a company can't figure out how to get their heads out of their asses. Luckily, my office is expanding so my job is safe for the foreseeable future.

Using the word "retarded" defines your maturity and intellect.
So you equate poor spelling and grammar with being in your vernacular “stupid and retarded”. You should get off your, I’m educated and I’m superior ego trip.

You're the last one to tell someone to get off their high horse. Rarely can you avoid a thread without bragging about how unconventionally successful you are despite a lack of this or that. Oh and while plugging in pro-guns or anti-dems/Obama when it's almost always irrelevant.

Which means the only job you are qualified is to be a lawyer. Otherwise, you are unemployable. I couldn't get a job at the local McDonald's without lying on my resume.

There are plenty of jobs in DC. As long as you aren't in Ohio(or anywhere else in the country) finding work is EZ.

When you have an administration that is anti-business, anti-capitalism, anti-growth, anti-investment, and pro-regulation, pro-taxation, pro-plaintiff's lawyers, pro-marxism .......... this is exactly what you get ....... record unemployment, record disability, record food stamps.

But somehow it is the fault of a few CEO's. God the stupidity is overwhelming.

That appears to be the only metropolitan area that has grown in the last 5 years or so.

Thankfully we only have 2 more years left of this clown. Then we can get a real leader in the white house like Gary Johnson or the second coming of Ron Paul.

I’m proud of my accomplishment because unlike you I have some and I’m confident in who I am, what I have done with my life unlike you who have little to mention but lots to complain about.
As for my pro-guns and anti-dems/Obama … what difference does it make

    No one cares.

And there is the problem. Actually about 45% of us really do care, while 55% do not care because they don't have to care because they are being carried by the 45%. That will change .......soon.

You do realize that most people aren't receptive to the "HOW DARE YOU MAKE FUN OF ME!!! I'M WAY BETTER THAN YOU NOBODIES!!!!!" approach, don't you?

If you consider yourself as a nobody that is your problem and you have to get over the fact that you think of yourself in that manner. I dont care who you are, you are no better that me ... we are equal
If you can meet the standards then you will fall behind .... that just the way life is... reality

To many people walk around with the I can't do, I can't make a difference, I' not good at this or that ... they are defeated before trying.. and that is a sad state of mind many people today have...

Which is all well and good...except for the minor detail that I don't really see people on here considering themselves nobodies. Just you telling them they're nobodies because they argue with you.

It's actually kind of funny. If someone rips on your typing and grammar, you automatically jump into this "I might not type well, but unlike you I have real accomplishments!!!". ramble. Which, unless you personally know the person you're arguing with, is a judgement made without any factual or logical basis, which means you're essentially doing the same thing you're pissed at the other person for doing (determining a person's intelligence or worth solely on the words they typed on a message board).

I work and hopefully my clients pay me. I have one amazing client that pretty much funds my business. I have a second one that is pretty good, community bank organization. Other than that, it is an adventure when it comes to billing.

Not to take this to the politics board, but any government employee that has a pension is probably "wealthier" than most private sector employees.
