Handed down and down and down

Belly35What do you have that will be handed down to your kids or family members?
I have three grandsons now and was thinking about getting each a rifle .22 Henry that I could hand down in later years. They are 7, 61/2 and 4 weeks old still a little young for guns. Also a friend of mine been asking if I want to go groundhog shooting with him. He has a group of farmer that lets him kill groundhogs on their property. Sounds fun …
I was thinking about a .22 rifle Henry for groundhog hunting, and the boys will each have one also.

Belly35After I posted this thread I thought about my daugthers and the item we have to hand down to them that they don't want.
Baby Grand Piano, hundred plus Longerburge baskets, Limoges boxes... and few other items not wanted.
I'll just get the Henry .22 for myself... -
ernest_t_bassYou have a 61 year old grandson!?
-
ernest_t_bassI'm thinking of moving to the country, and I'll need a gun for the farm, to kill groundhogs, etc. I'm thinking .22, but I'll never be able to find any ammo!

61/2, which according to math would be 30.5 years old.ernest_t_bass;1653049 wrote:You have a 61 year old grandson!? -

On their ninth birthday, which would be 21.5 years too late for the one, give them personal lessons on shooting an Uzi....Belly35;1652982 wrote:What do you have that will be handed down to your kids or family members?

wildcats20I haven't been handed down anything really. My grandfather left some his Navy stuff to me when he died. But all of that is at my dad's house in NC.
My dad has a collection of Playboy that dates to the 70s, I'm not sure if that will go to me or my brother though. -

It's actually worth quite a bit of money. Most of the last 10-15 years are still in the black plastic. I would love to know what it's worth, but I'm not sure I would ever sell it if I got it. -

that's a mighty fine rifle there pardner!
Solid and well built and fun to shoot....octagonal barrel...I'm pretty sure it shoots all types of .22 ammo(.22S , .22LR as well as .22 magnum). If you are only buying one for yourself, spend a little more and get the Goldenboy. -

It does shoot all the .22 ammo I was going to get three but now who knows if the grandkids will enjoy shooting and hunting seems that would be a waste.HitsRus;1653091 wrote:

My brother in law has about 40 rifles (30 of them "hand me downs" from his Dad. But his favorite gun is his golden boy. When we go shooting, the question always is, "You bringing the goldenboy?" ... The answer is always "yes"Belly35;1653123 wrote:It does shoot all the .22 ammo I was going to get three but now who knows if the grandkids will enjoy shooting and hunting seems that would be a waste. -

OSHMy Grandma just passed a quilt down to my wife, my daughter (6 months old), and I. We named/nicknamed our daughter after my Grandma's grandma (my great-great-grandma). So, it's pretty cool to have a quilt that is THAT old. It's in great shape.

my middle daughter named (first name) their daughter my last name (family name). Which is very cool but was a little strange calling someone your last name... But because I only have daughters my last name will now be pasted down from generation to generation I hope as a first name.OSH;1653254 wrote:My Grandma just passed a quilt down to my wife, my daughter (6 months old), and I. BR1986FBDon't have any kids but I'll probably hand down my commercial gym equipment to my girlfriend's son since there's a common interest (lifting) there.

GOONx19When my grandpa died in 2011 gave me a crewneck Michigan sweatshirt he got when he was a freshman there in 1945 after he got back from the war. He said he wore it every year he was there for the OSU game and they won like 3 or 4 of them, so he never stopped wearing it for the Game.
