Apparently Bran and Hodor won't be cast this year.

I'm a bit wary about the information, but if true says much about the development of the series.

Fucking retarded. Almost as retarded as GRRM.

Agreed, but it was kind of one of the big cliff hangers at the end. Not sure what else they could have done, as they've never gotten much screen time (and, agreed, what little screen time was still a waste).

Could be subterfuge, though. People think nothing is happening there and then BAM! he comes to the rescue doing magic and shit.

It could also mean a change of actor - that is just one possibility....but if the series goes beyond this year and the next the guy playing Bran (nothing wrong with him IMO otherwise) is going to get too old.

Not having read the books, I couldn't care less about kids "getting too old" for the role. Sure, if you think about it there is a sense of time in the series...but you have to pay attention. To me there's not much relative time between story lines as they are mostly independent. And it's not hard for me to imagine things are progressing slower than the "real-time" release of the episodes.

So the kids aged 5 years during events that are supposed to occur over a few months? Not really relevant to the story line, from the perspective of a viewer. As plot/timeline inconsistencies go, in this show it's a minor one.

It wouldn't be the first time a character was recast (Gregor, Tommen, Myrcella, Daario) - as lame as the Bran plotline might be, it would be odd to drop it completely for a season.

At any rate, there's no reason to discuss the books anymore in relation to the show. The show has spoiled the books with character deaths or non-appearances. It's obvious that D&D are going in another direction, and unless someone is a diehard book fan so far most of the changes have been an improvement, and it is becoming more likely that GRRM won't finish the series in the books. I just don't know how many more seasons HBO can spread it out - my guess is we'll get two more and D&D know the storyline for all 20 (or more) eps.
