He didn't choke him to death. he used it to get him to the ground and then let go once he was there. Also, the guy was arrested like 30 times, he's been through the system enough to know that if you resist arrest then police will escalate the situation. Again, he didn't deserve to die, but if didn't obstruct the officers he'd be alive. His shitty health led to his death, not the cops, IMO
Curious what the actual ruling was on the cause of death.

Probably a homicide.

The medical cause of death.

When you violate policy, especially a policy like that (which exists for this specific reason), then you shouldn't have special protections as a police officer...which then means you are responsible for a death outside of your capacity as a cop. IMO, no different than a reckless and irresponsible discharge of a firearm that results in death.

Have to agree. If you break the rules of your employer and it leads to a death, that's a big deal.

I agree with this. This is more of an outrage than MB, but really not worth protesting. If you want change, advocate for real solutions(and actually give solutions other than PUT HIM IN JAIL!11) rather than just blocking streets and harassing cops. But alas, these people are morons with no life and no future so they don't care.

You'd think just based on that, he'd be in some hot shit. Be interested to hear the details of what happened. The video was tough to watch.
Yeah, that's the one that surprised me. Looks like an open-and-shut manslaughter case, but no indictment whatsoever? Bizarre.

Potentially one of the solutions I have presented is to eliminate police unions but that won't go over well with the libtards. It seems unions protect bad cops and use their influence to protect members even if they are corrupt. Eliminating police unions is a good step towards transparency in the system which would probably eliminate the perception of the 'blue wall' over time.

But again, I'm someone who actually tries to propose solutions to the problem rather than just complaining about it.

Quacker, you two bit tea bag licking fucktard, by your own numbers the amount of white people killed by police should be 615. By your own numbers, wayyyyyyy more blacks are killed by population than whites.

Crawl back under your racist right wing holier than though rock from wenst though came demon.

Apparently you may be able to read, just not comprehend. I said more whites are killed by police with a gun by about a 3-1 ratio vs. blacks. And although whites outnumber blacks by 5-1, when you factor in the criminal statistics that show blacks are more involved in crime, it causes the ratio to come back into line. You just left out the second half of the equation, so maybe try a stats class along with reading comprehension. Good luck.

the problem is the policy wasn't being enforced. even by the civilian oversight committee or whatever it is. its been used thousands of times since the policy was put into place and wasn't being enforced.

I've been trained on the move and had it used on me for the training. i'd probably never use it unless the shit hit the fan. its hard to do correctly even in a perfect environment where the person isn't resisting.

Interesting. That would definitely affect my opinion. The "policy not being enforced" is a very, very gray area. It's still against policy, and resulting in a death. Pertinent to a jury trial, but not sure it justifies no indictment.

This is going start happening more now. "He's trying to Mike Brown me! I'm scared for my life!" Over a receipt at Wal mart.
• bigdaddy2003
Lol, if the receipt is for the item, why not just show it?
• SportsAndLady
I was kind of hoping a Walmart truck would have hit that guy. What an annoying douchebag...just let him have your fucking receipt if you have nothing to hide.

I give the officer a lot of credit for showing restraint but I definitely would have tasered the shit out of that guy.

Wow, Elanor Holmes Norton, a DC congress lady said the evidence didn't matter to her. I realize a lot of liberals feel that way but for an elected official to actually say it on tv was shocking to me. Smh

Liberalism has mostly been getting it's ass kicked for 4+ years...police brutality and racism is the old new "war on women". And if you disagree with the irrationality of that position, then you must be a racist Republican.

This. They've dropped the "war" tag because people were catching on, but it the same formula dog and pony show.

Lebron and Kyrie wearing "I can't breathe" shirts tonight. Nothin like supporting criminals.

I have not done a lot of reading on it (so correct me if I'm missing something), but the Eric Garner thing is actually one I have a little bit of sympathy for. Though it was more of a freak accident than anything, I still feel the officers should have been reprimanded in some way, but not charged with murder.

Lots of interesting points here by Whitlock. http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/id/11984741/whitlock-why-black-folks-breathe

I don't agree with all of it, but it will make you think for sure. There are real issues with race, and the way we address it just tends to dig each side deeper into it's own corner. We are trying to treat the symptoms, and not find a cure.

I was always told if you can talk you can breath. I have not seen the whole video but all the shirts that say " I can't breath" was that what the guy said? If so at that time he could breath. Either way I don't like what is going on here in our country. People of all races need to address the situation. Criminals need punished and cops have to be able to do the right thing and go home at the end of the day to their family.
