  Again, don't the locals get that a huge part of the issue is that a councilman's opinion doesn't matter? Nor that of any of the school administration? One person has been given dictator power, and people either act shocked that this isn't acceptable or that the decisions he makes are proper, done for the correct reasons. Delusional and in denial.

  I agree, the fire did not hurt anyone and I don't remember it being a huge deal that he was allowed to play. Plus the years in between made it feel much less fresh in the communities mind.
  
  And FYI - the fire starter is now serving 30+ years for a murder he committed in his early 20's.

  How about this since we are bringing up diff things that have happened.
  
  3 players set up a fake dear in the middle of a road just passed a hill or curve. A car comes by, swerves to miss it and the two HS kids in the car crash and are severely injured. The kids get caught, go to court and get like 60 days detention....only to have the judge tell them they could serve the time AFTER THE FOOTBALL SEASON?!?!!?!?

  Believe at least one, maybe all three, also got caught drinking late in the season once they pretty much could not make the playoffs and got booted from the team I believe if memory serves me right

  If I remember right the judges logic was that football was good for the kids, and I certainly understand that. Sometimes a kid needs the program more than the program needs them. That being said, let the kids attend all football activities - morning lifting, conditioning, study tables, practice, charity work etc. Just don't let them play the games. Make them work their butts off in a structured environment, but don't give them, the team, and the community the reward of them playing Friday nights.

  Don't forget that the townspeople went all FWK/Steuby on the injured kids, bringing up how they might have been intoxicated and, therefore, deserved whatever happened to them.
