When did ESPN become NBA TV?
-
Dr Winston O'BoogieTen of the first fourteen stories this morning are about the NBA and it's not even basketball season. This can be a slow sports time of the year, but why all the focus on a winter sport that is only mildly popular with the general population? I think most people could care less about all of these basketball "stars" shopping their talents around and the different teams courting them.
How about some human interest stories - which abound in the sports world? I knew ESPN had become a politically correct comedy network, but this is ridiculous. -
Raw Dawgin' it

SportsAndLadyHuman interest stories lol
-
pmoney25Ratings? Human interest stories don't move the dial.
-
lakeflyerMikeBetter then talking about the World Cup
-
SonofanumpThe NBA is so disinteresting to me, I'd rather watch FIFA or track and field.

Things like the 30 for 30 series - which is excellent. Sportscenter on loop with espn.com articles completely focused on NBA beauty contests are dreadful.SportsAndLady;1632550 wrote:Human interest stories lol -
like_thatI just wish they would cover more of cross country and hockey LOL.

Laley23There is another alternative...FS1...
Dont complain to ESPN when they destroy the ratings. People bitch and moan, and then still tune in. Why would they change? -
Classyposter58Yeah I barely watch ESPN anymore because of this. They're just trying to push the NBA because they have the most rights to the league, they don't have Hockey and Baseball's rights to their finals and a majority of the games are on Fox and you can see the difference. Really don't show as much baseball as they used to and once August rolls around it's all football

lhslep134NBATV shits on ESPN, FWIW. Actually the other sports networks like MLB and NFL shit on ESPN too.
You'd think it'd be OK for those f*ckers (ESPN) to show highlights of the only major sport going on instead of the free agency BS -

Do they though? Does AM sportscenter get decent ratings? I have no idea.Laley23;1632560 wrote:There is another alternative...FS1...

Well, they arent pulling in good ratings in the AM. But, no one is. Its all relative. They are probably winning that slot by a good margin though, losing only to Today and GMA would be my guess.lhslep134;1632564 wrote:Do they though? Does AM sportscenter get decent ratings? I have no idea.
FS1 has only beaten the 6pm SC once since it launched though. Granted, FS1 has been making inroads slowly and has cut into the 6pm market...but SC still dominates. The NASCAR/Racing crown into FS Live has been huge for them this summer. As they get actual sporting events in the future, their ratings will continue to rise...they have a better product imo -

Yes it will, cause they like money.ccrunner609;1632570 wrote:don't worry, Soccer is coming. It will be all about that..... -

Thanks, that's kinda why I asked. It makes more sense for them to spew that garbage for 50 outta 60 minutes in the morning when it's pretty much irrelevant to gaining/losing market share.Laley23;1632571 wrote:Well, they arent pulling in good ratings in the AM. But, no one is. Its all relative. -
ZoltanESPN is in the ratings business. Period.
I basically only watch it when a live sporting event I'm interested is on, or 30 for 30. -

Precisely. If one doesn't like their general non-live sporting event television, the proper solution is to change the channel or just turn the TV off.Zoltan;1632576 wrote:ESPN is in the ratings business. Period.

thavoiceSince soccer is the worlds favorite sport and the ratings for the US games were better than the NBA and WS then I think they should focus mostly on soccer.
Spelling be and such has been on for years. Think I even saw flip-cup or something like that from time to time.
When I even had cable I rarely was watching ESPN anymore. -
bigorangebuck22Slipping? They've been showing things like that for years.

Exactly...they've been showing these types of events since they first went on the air over 30 years ago. -

I think that's your answer. Six weeks from now no one will GAF about the NBA until it starts up again.Dr Winston O'Boogie;1632541 wrote:Ten of the first fourteen stories this morning are about the NBA and it's not even basketball season. This can be a slow sports time of the year.... -
