215 ain't bad for an old skinny fat dude.

It's over 400 right now at age 46 but I don't "max" so I couldn't tell you what that is. Keep my reps no lower than 5. Used to be a lot more when I was in my early 20's.

That's some weight! Do you use a shirt?

A sling. Don't use it to increase the bench as much as I use it to protect my shoulders. It's a pretty nifty tool as it keeps your elbows in the proper "groove" to prevent shoulder injuries. Too many people bench with flared elbows which puts too much torque on the front delt. A proper bench is done with tucked elbows which actually targets more tricep than pec. The sling I use is called a "Slingshot."

Couple years ago I did 275x3 which was the most I ever did. Googled a 1 rep max calculator and that said it's 300.25.

Nowadays I usually go for more reps and less weight with dumbbells. Last set is usually 10 reps with the 85's.

Brf, impressive for your age. I am 44 and currently work out with no more than 275 for 4 reps. In my prime I maxed out at 370, and did 225 pounds for 23 reps right after college.

Good to see you can still lift those women you like to bring home on a weekly basis....

Been forever since I benched, since I prefer working out at home by myself instead of going to gyms. And I'm more of a fan of low weight/high reps stuff than trying to see what's the most I can lift.

It'd be interesting to know, if for no other reason than that I've been on my current regiment of working out (where some exercises get added or subtracted from time to time) for a couple years, which is the longest my lazy ass has kept one going since the college days, so I'd be interested in seeing how much all that has affected my overall strength.

You have me confused with another fine gentleman on these forums, but if I were to guess, he bench presses more than me. ;)

I go low reps/high weight to keep what I've got. Gaining muscle size, at my age, is like watching paint dry....very SLOW. Just trying not to lose what's left. :D

235 was the most I've put up for 1 rep. Right now, probably 200.

    Get your shit together dude!

275 lbs in college while I weighed about 155 lbs. After college the easy access to gyms went away and I started doing more in home stuff like P90X. It's been years since I have done barbell bench, but I'm guessing I would be able to do about 200 lbs now.

Side note: My college buddy could bench about 240, same height, weighed about 5 less lbs, did the exact same workouts, ate worse, but looked WAY more ripped. Genetics are a bitch.

Amen brother. I know a lot of dudes who are half my size and much shorter than me that can press a lot more weight. Easier to push the bar 3 inches when you have T-Rex arms than it is for someone like me with monkey arms. All about leverage.
