It's 91% sold out so if you're going to do it you might want to get your starting time locked in. -
saltoNot far from here is this the Savage Run at Mad River Mountain.

BRFBRF knows that you are a tough mudder fucker………….MOFO!

Pick6I believe there is a Tough Mudder much closer in Mansfield in May.
Not in shape right now, nor have the time to do it. I'll prob consider that one, especially since its basically my hometown and i'll know a decent amount of people participating. -

So, in less than a month you can be 'in shape'?Pick6;1606958 wrote:I believe there is a Tough Mudder much closer in Mansfield in May.

That is the Ohio Tough Mudder. It's the only one in Ohio. It's May 17 & 18.Pick6;1606958 wrote:I believe there is a Tough Mudder much closer in Mansfield in May.

It is not the only one in Ohio. As Belly said, there is one August 16 and 17 in St. Clairsville, Ohio. Its referred to as the Ohio Valley/Pittsburgh Tough Mudder.Con_Alma;1606966 wrote:That is the Ohio Tough Mudder. It's the only one in Ohio. It's May 17 & 18. -
Con_AlmaThat's referred to as the Pittsburgh challenge. My appologies for it does have an Ohio start and finish location.

I have no clue what the hell you are trying to argue, but the event is IN OHIO and IS a tough mudder event.

Con_Alma????
Im not trying to argue so I can see how you would not have a clue about what I was trying to argue. -
ernest_t_bassHow "in shape" (endurance) must one be? I hate rubs over 3 miles.
-
SonofanumpI don't like to run that far, I'll be doing the Warrior Dash at the end of May.

My understanding is that the Mansfield Airport course is just slightly over 10 miles. If you can cover 10 miles while traversing through 20 some obstacles you can make it.ernest_t_bass;1607050 wrote:How "in shape" (endurance) must one be? I hate rubs over 3 miles. -

hate running, with my hurt foot, bad knee running is a problem, upper body strength, low crawling, lifting, arm strength and strong back I'm good for the event ...long distance running is not my game ...ernest_t_bass;1607050 wrote:How "in shape" (endurance) must one be? I hate rubs over 3 miles. -

I did the one in Virginia and finished without training at all. I was in absolutely terrible shape. It was at a ski resort, too, so it was a lot of trips up and then down the "mountain."ernest_t_bass;1607050 wrote:How "in shape" (endurance) must one be? I hate rubs over 3 miles. -
ZoltanYou can finish one of these without being in great shape. They are not timed, and you can take as much rest as you want at the obstacles or wherever you want. I think they recommend you can run five straight miles to do one, but certainly not 10-12.
I did one in Wisconsin and was in pretty good shape. It was a fun experience that I'm glad I did it. -

What was the distance and did you walk in between obstacles?justincredible;1607259 wrote:I did the one in Virginia and finished without training at all. I was in absolutely terrible shape. It was at a ski resort, too, so it was a lot of trips up and then down the "mountain." -

Shouldn't you be watching the Boston Marathon?salto;1607406 wrote:What was the distance and did you walk in between obstacles? -
baseballstud24I ran the Savage Race last year..I finished..Did all the obstacles, but man was it rough. I hadn't ran since high school (I'm 28) and going up and down those ski slopes was killer. If you're in decent shape, you probably won't have a problem with this race. The obstacles required a lot of upper body strength and mental toughness..

Usually about 0.5 to 1 miles. There are generally about 20 - 24 obstacles in 10-12 mile run. The difficulty of the obstacles was not a huge deal in my opinion because they ranged from pretty easy (climb a wall, crawl in mud, jump off a high platform into water, etc), to almost impossible (inclined monkey bars that are super slippery). 99% of people would fall off the monkey bars really quickly so there wasn't a ton of energy spent. I have decent upper body strength and could do 20+ pull ups, and had no chance on some of these because it was so slippery.salto;1607406 wrote:What was the distance and did you walk in between obstacles?
You HAVE to be able to run hills or you are in big trouble. We had a really muscled up guy in our group and he was dying really quickly from the runs in between the obstacles. Expect it to be muddy enough to the point where you will be crawling up/down some of the hills because it's not possible to stay on your feet. -
