She shouldn't have to. It's her birthday.ernest_t_bass;1600301 wrote:My wife has a friend who, every year, gathers a group of people to go out for her own birthday. She does the planning, she does the reservations, etc. My gripe... she does NOT say, "NO GIFTS!"
Hope this helps. -
mcburg93ETB has to be one grumpy mofo to be bitching about his wifes friends birthday.

In my opinion, this woman must be related to MB, as I see this action as about as pretentious as can be. "Hey everyone, come celebrate ME, ME, ME!!! Bring gifts, too!!!"
What are your thoughts and feelings on celebrating adult birthdays? In my opinion, if you want to arrange something, I'm OK with that, but you MUST state to everyone, "ABSOLUTELY NO GIFTS!" Let's all go out, grab some drinks, and just use my birthday as an excuse to get away from reality for a second." If your friends want to arrange everything, then, and only then, would I see gifts as acceptable.ernest_t_bass;1600305 wrote:I just wish you knew this woman. Every year, HER birthday is a big production, and the production is always put on by her. It's so annoying.ernest_t_bass;1600350 wrote:The "event" planned for this birthday is a "Wine and Canvas," where the ladies will sit around, drink wine, and paint. It's $35. If my wife even thinks about getting her anything for her birthday, many fucks will be given and expressed vocally.ernest_t_bass;1600374 wrote:No, not at all. But if I'm dropping $35 to go out with you for your birthday, I will not be getting you a gift. My presence is my $35 gift to you.ernest_t_bass;1600379 wrote:All I said is that, if she wants to buy her a gift, many fucks will be given, and vocally shared.ernest_t_bass;1600401 wrote:It bothers me because I think it's stupid, and I'm allowed to have an opinion? It is OUR money, right? If I want to go out and drink an 18 pack a day, spending OUR money, isn't my wife entitled to her opinion towards my actions?ernest_t_bass;1600455 wrote:Reading is hard.

HereticMain thing I got from that is that Ernest feels his presence is worth $35. Someone is over-valuing themselves by a LOT.

$35 is nearly twice $20. CC's head would likely explode thinking of that sort of sum.Devils Advocate;1600496 wrote:Nope that's $20

We went like 3 years from the start of the last HOF thread, and we have 2 strong candidates in the same week.
Business is definitely picking up around here. -

What's easier for the party being paid and what's easier for the party paying are exact opposite ends of the spectrum. Not sure why you would look at it from the restaurant's perspective. Of course 1 bill is easier for them.Automatik;1600429 wrote:I don't think so.
If that were the case, restaurants would have no problem with individual tabs for large groups. I'm assuming it's easier to have one bill, split x amount of ways evenly.
