To the mechanically inclined

Ok so my girlfriend and I were driving to her dad's house in the southern part of Ohio and I pulled up to a stop light and my vehicle died. I tried to start it and it starts but shakes real bad and then shuts off. So I push it into a parking lot and her grandma brings me gas. I put it in and the problem remains. Side note: I tried revving it up and it won't rev at all. In fact the girlfriend put the pedal all the way to the floor and it wouldn't rev. I checked the oil and it is fine. I'm hoping it's something simple like the fuel filter but I'm guessing I won't get that lucky. Any thoughts?

Fuel Pump, Massive Vacuum leak or alternator took a dump are 3 things I can think of that would cause a car that was driving to just stop.

Ah yes, my cousin mentioned the crank position sensor.

    Where in southern Ohio?

Could certainly be a fuel filter or pump. Could also just be some bad gasoline too. Did you recently put gas in it?

No, the gas light had just came on a few minutes prior and I was thinking well I have to get more than 5 miles when the light comes on but I was hoping it was just out of gas. So I put 5 bucks worth in from a can and the problem was still there.

If it was that low you could have picked something up from the bottom of the tank thats just clogging the filter/fuel line.

Sounds like exactly what happened to my truck, it was the fuel pump. Tool it to local mechanic, quoted about $470. Then decided to see if the guys at the local high school vocational auto dep. would fix it, and they did for around $190. Been running great since

You'll have to eyeball how your car is leaning. Whichever side is higher has the low fluid.

Way too many miles and a mechanic just came to pick it up and he said it was the fuel pump.

Probably gonna end up being just a filter, but you're gonna pay for a fuel pump. :RpS_sneaky:
