OC'ers. Need your help. Cash reward possible.

Long story short, dog went missing in Russells Point. We had an idea who took it in nearby as they acted like dicks and uncooperative when we stopped by putting out pictures and stuff.

Dog warden stopped by and they werent home/didnt come to the door and he left a card. They called back over a day later to set up a visit 2 days afterwards. Plenty of time to get rid of it.

We put notices on alot of sites and today a lady from columbus called almost crying.
She said she was in contact wtih someone trying to buy the dog and the picture that was being used was the exact one we used on the missing dogs notices.
The potential buyer in columbus said they were to meet in Dublin area which would be in between. The seller was very insistant on cash only, quick, didnt have any back info like shots/fixed and such.

No more add on craigslist about it. The potential buyer says she uses prepay and deleted the number and doesnt have a way to find it again she doesnt think.

So what do you all think is next?

Also..anyone in West central ohio, or Bellefontaine/columbus/dublin area know of someone who just purchased a 6 yr old yorkie dog? We would gladly purchase it back and then try to find the fuckers who had the dog.

Any help from the OC would be greatful.

    Thanks.

    Is the dog chipped?

Yes, but that doesnt locate it. That is just for scanning if it is found.

    Thanks.

Pretty fucking shitty to use the same fucking picture we used.

You sure your wife isn't in on this? :o
  • Rotinaj
Sounds to me like you know who did it. I suggest shitting on their porch at least once a week for the next decade.

Very good idea whom. They were very uncooperative and shitty and plenty of time, 3-4 days, to get rid of the dog in between the dog warden contacting them and the actual visit.

I went there with the picture and the guy acted like an asshole..the place smellled of shit and piss. The dog is long gone though, sold and we are trying to track it down.

Of course not, but it might if you report the dog stolen and the buyer takes said dog to the vet.
  • justincredible
That's a shitty situation. I won't be of any help, but I hope you're able to prove who took the dog and can exact some sort of revenge on them.
  • gut
Revenge isn't worth it. The person with the least to lose always wins that game.

Report it stolen, and if it turns up (maybe a vet scan) don't be so quick to reimburse the person - stolen property is yours. Instead offer them a reward for "remembering" who they brought the dog from, and perhaps testifying.

    Probably.

On a far happier note my wife thought she was rescuing a missing dog and on a hot summer evening was trying to keep this dog near a residential area and kept it there by feeding it a bag of powered donuts and tried to lure it into the car......thought to be owner showed up to tell her it wasn't the right dog.....the dog was in it's actual yard lol. Fed a bag of donuts....I still lol about that.

I talked to my friend he is a Columbus Police Officer. I told him the story and he said he is more then Willing to use his connections if he has any in your area to send a uniformed cop to the home to Atleast put some fear in the people if they really are responsible. He said he has been hearing more and more cases like this.

if I was you and someone stole my dog and I had a good idea who it was they would wake up with constant flat tires every few weeks.

You mentioned they advertised on craigslist if I read correctly. I would list your missing dog on there with the same pic that they stole from you to sell it, just an idea. If that doesn't work a cold piece of steel resting on a temple might get you an immediate confession.
  • Trueblue23
Your first mistake was giving them a window in which they could've moved the dog.

You should've staked that bitch out like Tom Hanks in the Burbs.

Exactly. Plus, the people we think had and sold it live in a shitty place, and had an eviction notice on their door.

Already done. We now have TWO people who said they saw a dog for sale on Columbus Craigslist last week using the photo.

Called the dog warden on a friday. Did not hear back so I went there personally on a Sunday. Wen to a few houses around it to not seem suspicious. Showed the pic and the guy was very combative, barely looked at the photo, said he never seen the dog. I then asked if he could at least look at the picture because he was last seen chasing their car in fron of their house. Dog warden went on a monday, left card. They called back on tuesday and sechdedule an appt on Thurs. Seems all pretty stupid as they could have easily moved it by then.
