I'm looking for something with a little better mpg than the suv. That doesn't offer much of an improvement over my truck.superman;1579504 wrote:http://www.subarubeechmont.com/used/Subaru/2004-Subaru-Forester-cincinnati-oh-f69e7a1d0a0a0049307cb7a7fcb72712.htm
Can't go wrong with the Forester -
HitsRusYou are looking at vehicles that were made in 2004....you are not going to get much better mileage in an AWD drive car of that era.

This looks like it gets 20 city/27 hwy. My truck is actually lower than I thought at 13/17. This is also a 2009 and fits my budget. Why do you think I'm only going to be able to find a car that's a decade old?justincredible;1579302 wrote:This one: http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?zip=45208&endYear=2015&sortBy=distanceASC&showcaseOwnerId=0&startYear=1981&makeCode1=SUB&transmissionCode=MAN&numRecords=100&transmissionCodes=MAN&searchRadius=200&pricesOnly=true&mmt=%5BSUB%5B%5D%5B%5D%5D&listingId=357238810&listingIndex=56&Log=0 -
justincredibleI also don't really like the body style of the Forester. I prefer the Subaru wagons to the suv's.

justincredibleAnd yes, I realize that 20/27 isn't much better than 19/23.

I buy what I like, buy quality, value, I general look for manufacturing in the USA or a high percentage of assemble in the States. justincredibleBelly, I appreciate the suggestion but I don't plan on replacing my truck with another truck. I actually love my truck, I just want something a little better on gas and in the snow.

couple of the links were to cars that were 2002 and 2004.Why do you think I'm only going to be able to find a car that's a decade old
Sorry if I seemed contrary. Subarus are great cars and my mother has the Outback wagon...2006. That's the car I was talking about in my earlier post. From our family's history with Subaru vehicles you can drive them for 12-13 years, with good care and if you put on reasonable mileage. If you can find a low mileage 2009 for 13 K...go for it. Both the Outback wagon and Forester are solid cars. We have a newer Forester and the only thing I don't like about it is the gas mileage....about 25 overall. But I didn't expect an AWD to have top of the charts MPG, and I bought it for safety, reliability, durability. -
dlazzDoes it HAVE to be a Subaru? You're really limiting your options by locking yourself to that.
Wouldn't a Volkswagen fit most of your needs?
I would feel uncomfortable buying a used car that was 10+ years old, regardless of the manufacturer. At the end of the day, it's still a 10 year old car with 10 year old car problems. -

No, it does not have to be a Subaru. As of now, Subaru and VW are at the top of my list.dlazz;1579652 wrote:Does it HAVE to be a Subaru? You're really limiting your options by locking yourself to that.

a 10 year old VW is a sucker buy, unless it's a diesel. They're notorious for being money pits.justincredible;1579669 wrote:No, it does not have to be a Subaru. As of now, Subaru and VW are at the top of my list. -

I don't want a hybrid. If I did get one it would be a Fusion.Pick6;1579759 wrote:A Prius seems right up your alley. -

I would go with a Legacy, they're great cars. If you want to pony up the money you could always get a STI.Raw Dawgin' it;1579217 wrote:Scoobs are goat. Boxer engine, runs forever, awd, great in snow, cheap maintenance, and good resale value.
Outback is possibly a Lezmobile - I'd go Impreza hatch or legacy. -
