Haunted house in Gary, Ind

  • Fab1b
Anyone see this story lately? Pretty crazy it's been all over the news this weekend and a quick search will produce several news stories. Posted one here: http://gawker.com/local-police-confirm-this-house-is-haunted-by-demons-1510152588.

Now the douche from Ghost Adventures bought the home as well

    O'Reilly recently interviewed the priest

Fairly interesting IMO. Some stories interview the police chief as well but the priests interview put some doubts in it as well. Always fascinated with the paranormal. You?

I'd imagine about every home in Gary, Indiana is scary.
  • Fab1b
Ha I do agree with that se-alum! Usually you don't see police chiefs making these kind of statements along with social workers. I do think there is a lot of BS though in it too!
  • se-alum
It's pretty interesting. Strangely, I don't believe in ghosts, but I'm kinda fascinated by the phenomenon. Love visiting places that are supposedly "haunted".

    ^ This unless you're a minority.

    Ghosts/spirits aren't real.
An unnamed witness told caseworkers the kids were "performing" for Ammons, and that she likewise encouraged the weird behavior.
There's your explanation right there. Suddenly, this lower class family of 5 is in the news and will be getting money for their interviews / story.

    Interesting quote from the article:
"The family said demons possessed Ammons and her children, then ages 7, 9 and 12," the paper reports. "The kids' eyes bulged, evil smiles crossed their faces, and their voices deepened every time it happened."
While most children behave this way most of the time, Ammons was convinced the Devil was involved.
I didn't know most children acted like they are possessed by demons. LOL

There are also things in this story that make it unbelievable, like the claim of spirits and demons.

Were all demons gymnasts in their previous lives? Why do they all climb walls and do backflips? I NEED ANSWERS!!!!

As soon as I saw the previous owner's name was "Latoya" I quit reading. Black folk are scared shitless by ghosts and demons. Why do you think dey be sayin "oh Lawdy Lawdy" all the time?

You can not prove that Ghosts/Spirits aren't real, you are simply opposed to believing that what you believe could be wrong. Multiple people saw & said one of the boys walked up a wall backwards. How do you explain that?

Right. Can a journalist write an article without putting their personal opinion in the article anymore?

Yet in an era where modern technology is always in reach of our finger tips....there is no video of the boy walking up the wall. Not even a grainy, low resolution video.

You're right, I don't know for sure. I just find it peculiar that these experiences always happen to the same type of people and that anyone with an objective mind or doubts it, never experiences anything.

This type of stuff always happen to multiple different police officers, Doctors, Nurses, CPS Workers?

"What Ammons and Campbell say happened next also was detailed in a DCS report of a family case manager’s interviews with medical staff."

"According to Washington’s original DCS report — an account corroborated by Walker, the nurse — the 9-year-old had a “weird grin” and walked backward up a wall to the ceiling. He then flipped over Campbell, landing on his feet. He never let go of his grandmother’s hand."

"Two other officers. one each from Gary and Hammond police departments, asked to join them out of “professional curiosity."... During the interview with Campbell, one officer’s audio recorder malfunctioned, according to Austin and Hammond police records. The power light flashed to indicate the batteries were dying, even though the officer had placed fresh batteries in the recorder earlier that day. Another officer recorded audio and, when he played it back later, heard an unknown voice whisper “hey,” according to Lake County police records."

"That officer also took photos of the house. In one photo of the basement stairs, there was a cloudy white image in the upper right-hand corner. When an officer enlarged the photo, that cloud appeared to resemble a face, Lake County police records state. The enlargement also revealed a second, green image that police say looked like a female."

Campbell, Ammons, Austin and the two other police officers from the initial visit went back to the Carolina Street home on the afternoon of May 10, 2012. The police officers visited after work hours.
They were joined by Maginot, two Lake County officers with a police dog and DCS family case manager Samantha Ilic."...Ilic touched some strange liquid she saw dripping in the basement, and said it felt slippery yet sticky between her fingers....Ilic said she was later standing in the living room with the rest of the group when her left pinky finger started to tingle and whiten. She complained it felt broken. Less than 10 minutes later, Ilic said she felt as if she was having a panic attack. She couldn't breathe, so she walked outside to wait for the group."

The other officers continued to walk through the home. On the main floor, they noticed an oil-like substance dripping from venetian blinds in a bedroom but couldn’t figure out where it was coming from, police records state.
To make sure Campbell or Ammons hadn’t poured oil on the blinds, two of the officers used paper towels to clean it off. The officers sealed the room for 25 minutes and stood nearby so no one could walk in.When they went back in, the oil had reappeared, according to police records."

“This appears to be an unfortunate and sad case of a child who has been induced into a delusional system perpetuated by his mother and potentially reinforced” by other relatives, she wrote in her psychological evaluation." Clinical psychologist Stacy Wright. My question for the Psychologist would be, why are there so many other reports from non-family claiming non-normal activity? Are the police, hospital staff, CPS workers, etc all under the influence of this poor uneducated family?

I'm not necessarily saying that this story is 100% true. But to say this only happens to poor uneducated people is ignoring the fact that: Multiple Police Officers, Multiple Case Workers, Doctors, etc. are all claiming something paranormal.

I wouldn't want to live in this place
Three people died in the same unit – Apt. 2634 – in the past five months.

Senseless people don't believe in ghosts.

    Pretty insane story Fab.

The thing for me is that there were so many credible witnesses.. and police in Gary don't fuck around. That place is a shithole, so I doubt they would even bother making it up if there wasn't some kind of substance to the story.

And yes, the dude from Ghost Adventures is a dbag, but he is better than most of those guys. Actually GA is the only one of those shows I can stand anymore, and I'm excited to see this house on there eventually (bc we know it'll happen)
  • Fab1b
The Ghost Adventure guy said he was going to live there and document it.
