Part 1: True, tickets to Hawaii cost more than $20.Automatik;1575051 wrote:You can't afford any of that and you have no idea what you are talking about.

Part 2: Par for the course for him and virtually any non-running topic.
Part 3: Particularly grammar. At least botching "there/their" is different from the usual "should of". So there's that. Or for CC, "their's that". -

Plane tickets to Europe cost way more than $20 so you probably can't afford it.ccrunner609;1575048 wrote:i heard before that Hawaii sucks. The whole time you are their they make you feel like an outcast cause you arent an islander. If I were paying for those plane tickets I sure as hell wouldnt go there. I would travel Europe.
And by probably I mean definitely. Because you can't even pay your college bball fantasy dues. -

I've only been to Oahu but I've loved it both times. Honestly as far as the hotel goes I'd suggest checking out some places on AirBNB, you can save a ton of money and some are really nice.pmoney25;1575038 wrote:Thinking of going to Hawaii for our 10th Wedding Anniversary. As far as things to do I'd say hiking is my favorite there. The touristy spot to go is Diamond Head and it's really nice but there are some other great ones as well.
Koko Head is great because the stairs seem endless and it's a great view:
Kuliouou is a pretty easy hike minus the stairs towards the top of the ridge with an outrageously good view:
Lanikai Pillboxes offer some nice views too:
Those are all pretty easy hikes that you could go on with your wife.
Other than hiking the beaches are obviously a big draw. My favorites are Lanikai and Sunset. Lanikai is nice because it tends to not have so many people and you can do a bit of snorkeling there. Sunset is just a really nice beach and obviously a great spot to watch a sunset.
You might be interested in visiting Pearl Harbor as well, the memorial is well done but it does take a decent amount of time.
Food and drink, you're in for a treat. There's some fantastic food on the islands and lots of it so I'll just list a few of the places I think are worth trying.
Teddy's Bigger Burgers. They have some amazing burgers, just great stuff. Definitely hit them up. There's probably like 5 of them in different places on the island. So shouldn't be too difficult to find one.
South Shore Grill. This place is right near Diamond Head and has what I think are the best fish tacos on the island but also the best mix plate on the island. Mix plates are awesome and you should eat lots of them.
Kahuku Grill: They have some of the best coconut shrimp I've ever had and really good burgers. Cool little shack on the side of the road.
That's about it for now but there are a crazy amount of really fun things to do if you decide to go there. This was fun because I got to look through the old pictures on my phone looking for the ones I posted for the hikes. -
TiernanGo to Anguilla, get the same experience and save 4 grand.
-
SonofanumpIf I go I'm doing the 3am Kilauea hiking tour to the lava.
-
Manhattan BuckeyeWe did Maui and Kauai for our honeymoon. The north shore of Kauai (Princeville area) is the most beautiful place I've seen.

Midstate01I love oahu, but it's busy busy busy. Traffic is awful. If you choose oahu, then stay at Ko olina or turtle bay to get away from Waikiki. But if you wanna see pearl harbor and a few other sites, you could stay here for 2 or 3 days and see the island and then relax is Maui or kauia.
If I was suggesting places to go, either kauia or Maui. Kauia is amazing and is very relaxing. Has incredible beaches and great sight seeing. Maui is also great. Have the road to hana and great beaches.
The big island is cool for the lava and muana kea to see snow. But the big island is BIG. Only beaches are on Kona side. Rest of the island is like on a cliff. The big Island felt like ohio on a island. Farms, big trucks. Not many places to eat that are "local"
I wouldn't really recommend the big island. -

I didn't, the majority of my time there was by myself and I didn't think that was a good one to go alone. I want to do it so badly.Midstate01;1575388 wrote:Did you do the stairway to heaven. Going to be doing it in a couple weeks. Can't wait!
Best hike I did was all three peaks of Olomana but I think that's a bit of an intense hike for an anniversary if both of them aren't into hiking. -
believerI lived in Hawaii for 14 months (military). Avoid Honolulu. If you can find a place to stay on the North Shore...do it. Visit the Arizona memorial (Pearl Harbor). Go to Waimea Bay for beach time and some body surfing (at the right time of the year).
Then head to the Big Island (Hilo) and check out Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. Bring jackets because it is cold. Odd experience to see snow and then drive a half hour back to 80 degree weather near the shore.
If you have time (and money) do Maui and Molokai islands.
Enjoy! Literally paradise on Earth. -
